Mark 3:13-15

[13]And He went up on the mountain and called to Him those He Himself wanted. And they came to Him.

[14]Then He appointed twelve, that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach,
[15]and to have power to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons:

Is one saved by making a choice to believe in Jesus or one is divinely called to follow Jesus?

Thank you

The verses quoted refer to the call of the apostles to discipleship. It's not the call to salvation.

There are different schools of thought about whose decision makes a person saved. Calvinists believe in God's ultimate election. No man can choose to be saved unless God calls him. He also cannot refuse the call of the Almighty to salvation.

The Arminists believe salvation is made available for all people. Each one has the free will to choose to be saved. They say people reject God. God rejects no one.

You could Google the scriptural basis for the two doctrines.

Also:

Joel 2:32
And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the Lord Shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance, As the Lord has said, Among the remnant whom the Lord calls.

If Jehovah's Witnesses comes to your homes to teach you you will start arguing blindly over what you can't even establish. Just see the question yourself and ask your own soul if truthfully you're a Christian! undecided

For so love the world that he sent his only begotten son whosoever believe in him might not perish but have everlasting life John 3:16

He came to his own people but his own people rejected him, however he has given all those who believe in him the authority to become God's children for believing in his name John 1:11-12

If it's about John 1:1 that you don't know how to expatiate now you will start arguing profusely like a broken chord but go and read those verses in the hearing of a toddler then repeat your question before such an underage and see how the little child will laugh at you.
Even a toddler knows what it means when they are sharing free jollof rice in his/her school, they know that the only reason a student can miss such opportunity is negligence not ignorance, because the teachers know the number of students in the school but they can't force them to accept gifts!

So i will still oblige to teach you if you like accept if you like reject it, you came to social media with a question and Jesus commanded me to tell you what i know regarding your question.

Jesus often do whatever he sees his father doing {John 5:19} he is open to everyone to preach and teach them for their salvation but when it comes to special assignments Jesus selects out of those who believe in him for such task, so we are all commanded to preach and teach in our neighbourhood but God appoints few members of the congregation for special assignments {Ephesians 4:11} that's exactly the same thing Jesus is doing there!

May you have PEACE! smiley
