The Ekiti State House of Assembly has condemned the manner in which the appointments of some staff of the Ekiti State University (EKSU) Ado-Ekiti and College of Health Technology Ijero-Ekiti were recently terminated.

Tribune Online recalls that no fewer than 1,000 staff of Ekiti State University were laid off in controversial circumstance, while many others also got their appointments terminated at the State College of Health Sciences Technology in 2019.

The house said such actions by the two institutions were not in tandem with the five pillars of the present administration and against the good governance agenda of the state Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi.

The Chairman of the House Committee on Public Petition, Honourable Adegoke Olajide, stated this on Wednesday during an interface between the Committee and the Management of the College of Health Technology, Ijero Ekiti and Ekiti State University, over the recent termination of the appointment of some workers of the two state-owned institutions.

He charged the management of the two institutions to give the workers fair hearing and be transparent in the report of the panel of enquiry being considered.

Olajide also urged the two management to be transparent in handling the matters that have to do with the welfare of their staffs.

According to him, ” Though some of the workers of the College of Health Technology were alleged of misappropriation of funds, the commitment of the present administration to fair hearing good governance and fair play has never been in doubt.”

He promised that justice would be done, particularly on the issues concerning those who have genuine evidence to prove wrongful termination and that the Committee would not hesitate to review shoddy report that might be submitted by any panel of enquiry before the implementation of such report.

Terminated without Valid reason should never be tolerated, and let those engaged in such appointment and termineted be investigated as i perceived them as crooks and wicked without thinking the consequence of their actions.

Imagine sacking 1,000 members of staff at once.

Is it all of them that embezzled money?
They'll be playing dirty politics on their inferiors.

Don't argue what you don't know. Those old staff affected by age stuff were the 355 re-engaged.

Aunty, I've spent 10 years in EKSU and it's environment and I'm still there presently. You know little about what you just typed.

1) Sex for mark wasn't part of it
2) Professors that got their degree there were asked where and when they became professors. Because they couldn't find their letters, they became prof there ooo
3) External auditors that doesn't know what in-view means, and you bought such to evaluate an higher institution.
4) More than 80% of securities were sacked. Because of fake result. Imagine.
5) Those given appointments in 2016 were sacked. All of them.

If you wanna say it, say it all. Not a single Ekiti indigene dey pray for the VC and the governor. All families were touched in short.

So don't justify sacking of workers, Karma is a bitch, people close to you could be next. Don't judge a situation you've never been in.

It's not worth it

Cos actually they did that so dey could have more money to pay salary. But presently, go and ask any EKSU staff, they are being paid 10% of their salary. Imagine someone earning 250,000 will be paid 25,000

Some are gonna be paid 3500 as salary imagine. So what's the point

Fayemi is a terrible being. If Buhari sacks him from being a governor, how would he feels? The employment forms he sold last year, has he recruitment anybody after the very rough exams?

The same thing he did in his first time as governor to the Local Government and he lost the case and called them back shamefully. The same reason he wasn't wanted back. EKSU staffs knew this would happen hence the reason they didnt vote for him and he knew, he knew exactly what he was doing, A payback

More than 200 staff recruited in 2016 for accreditation of new departments and other courses were unjustly sacked after confirmation of appointment and recent promotion done by the same government. While those recruited between 2017-2019 were not touched because this are sons and daughters of politicians in Ekiti State.
The recent injustice in Ekiti State University is uncalled for.
why will the government sacked someone who enjoys saturatory favour.
The disengagement of 2016 Eksu staff is just too terrible. We shouldn't encourage this
