I recently bought a W640 G230 Mercedes benz, unfortunately the car was vandalized by the previous owner who installed a mb M111 (C class 4cylinder engine in the car) oviosly the engine has no power to pull this car, i am a lover of vintage cars and i want to restore this car, the interior of the car is destroyed so i will fix a custom dashboard and center console,so i am flexible in terms of The Instrument Clauster.

I'll do body work, upholstery and painting after the mechanical part

I was told by some kazeems to install a nissan patrol engine so that the 4 wheel drive option will be restored unto the car for me it's not an option ( i searched the internet) and some people have successfully done that swap but its a cabŕeuttor eingine and that's a no no for me

So i searched further and i saw a build with a Toyota Jz1 in Indonesia mad fast and looked very good i don't know how realistic that kind of swap is in Nigeria.

I have a friend in SA who put a Mitsubishi engine in his G, he doesn't know much about cars so he couldn't tell me very much about how it was done but again i have heared of keke engine inside camery and i don't want that kind of something

Last but not least i was considering a M104 ( from a S class) the issue is still that this were rear wheel drives as far as i know so i don't know how well that will drive and look? Also the transmittion inside the car will also work with this engine, i guess? Since the M104 is like a 6 cylinder version of the M111?

Is there any way i can get ECU,OBD and co to work? Probably not but may be atleast the check engine, oil and other lamps

If you don't have something reasonable to contribute, keep shut.

People have been swapping engines for decades, Mercedes or not.

Heck he hasn't even stated what he's looking for. He's just cherry picking engines and stating their disadvantages.

If he's confused, he should install an M102 or something. I was half expecting some restoration project thats done and dusted

To be fair, OP was clear that he doesn't really know anything about it.

The rule of thumb with engine swaps is: If you have to ask on a public forum about it, it's way out of your hands and you shouldn't waste your time.

Those who know what it entails don't go about asking on Nairaland about how viable a swap is or what options they have.

Op.
M104 is your best bet.
M112 will also fit.
You need a Mercedes electrician for ECU swap.
All depends on your location.
If Lagos... Oluwaseunla is your best bet not gazzuzz. Ikenna351 should not be mentioned in a real spanner wrenching.
We are here to guide you through...

Thank you, you're the only one with a reasonable contribution, i prefare to ask and learn i could've gone straight to fix a M104 because i know it would work but why not consider other options and seek advice from people who have done this perticular swap ?

It's 230 i checked the Vin, Thanks again

What is a better way to gain knowledge in this kind of issue in your opnion ? I think everybody has to start someday and it's a two way thing either you ask or stay dumb.

If it's 230. Then that's the engine it came with. So don't bother changing it. Use it like that

It would end in premium tears... I recommend M112 or M113 engine .... Minimum of a v6 engine because of the body weight

It's simple physics
