It is obvious that the new coronavirus has a more mild effect in African countries especially the subsaharan region of the continent. It has not become the huge health emergency situation it was expected to be especially with the terrible state of healthcare in the region.
While kudos could be given to Senegal and Madagascar for some research efforts early on when the pandemic virus arrived the continent, now all effort has been left to the world's big economies to take.
Now that there's a certified vaccine in some countries, African countries are shamelessly just waiting for the vaccine by World Health Organization's and other nations' charity. No interim test run is being done to see if the vaccine, just like the virus, would work in the continent. What if the vaccine has a different side effect here? Africans especially Nigerians are in fate's hands as no intelligence is involved in the matter of this pandemic. It has been a case of copy what other nations are doing.
