Prince Ajasa Debunks Rumours Emanating From Tinubu’s Imposed Monarch by AlhajiBIMBO99(m): 4:41pm On Dec 19, 2020
Prince Ajasa, who was one of the major contenders for the recently occupied throne of Oniru of Iruland, has debunked reports making the rounds that Gbolahan Lawal was instrumental to his getting into the police force.

Speaking to newsmen in Lagos in the week, Prince Ajasa took time to explain how by sheer providence and by the magnanimity of a few good men while also reliving the events that led to his inability to assume the throne of his forefathers.

He, however, refused to share updates on how Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was said to have forced Omogbolahan Lawal, his former Aide-de-camp on the good people of Iru, against the sanctity of traditional doctrine and the wishes of family members, since litigation into the matter has commenced.

“As I have always said, I stand for peace, and for us to have sustainable peace and progress, it is important to build our institutions on truth and justice. The litigation is ongoing and I will not want to dwell so much on that. However, it has become important to debunk some of the misinformation emanating from the imposed monarch” he said.

“Gbolahan Lawal has been spreading false news for reasons best known to him, saying he assisted me into the Police Force and has been instrumental to my career. I would like to emphatically say that it is totally false and ridiculous.”

“My police career started with a brief discussion with an acquaintance, Late Waheed Aigoro, a fantastic human being, when we met in Isale-Eko in 1997, May his blessed soul rest in peace.

“Towards the end of 1999, I then wrote an official letter to the then Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Musiliu Smith, about my interest to build a career in the Police Force.

“In 2000, the response dispatched to me via mail from the Force Headquarters by an Inspector, informed me that the recruitment exercises were conducted biennially, advising that I check the dailies regularly for the next exercise.

“In my persistent nature, I wrote a reminder, and this time I was also replied via mail from the Force Headquarters Annex, Kam-Salem House.

“I can remember the day I got the response; I was serving at Union Bank when the same Inspector who dispatched the mail insisted on delivering the letter to me personally. My mother sent for me, and I had to hurriedly leave the Banking hall.”
The mail informed me to liaise with the PPRO Lagos Command, DSP Opara.

“Before meeting Opara, I met with Alayeluwa, the Late Oba Adeyinka Oyekan II, whom I had always enjoyed a robust and cordial relationship with. With his support, I helped several young people to secure admission into higher institutions.

“To my astonishment, Kabiyesi suggested sending someone with his Staff of Office to Opara’s office.”
While Ajasa was acknowledging benefactors to his career in the police force, he also mentioned the important role Oba Rilwan Akiolu played as a father figure, monitoring his results while he was studying at the Lagos State University.

“I had informed Oba Akiolu’s daughter, Princess Biola Akiolu, and confided in her about my interest, and she decided to call the attention of her dad, who was an Assistant Inspector General of Police, at that time.
“Oba Akiolu asked why I wanted to join the police despite my 2:1 in political science”

“Why haven’t you chosen to work in a multinational corporation like Mobil or Shell in Iru-land?”, said Akiolu

“I made him know Oba Adeyinka Oyekan had also given his recommendation. It should be noted that Oba Akiolu sent me a form through Biola Akiolu and the same was submitted to the then Commissioner of Police, Lagos Command, Mike Okiro as directed by Oba Akiolu.

After submitting the form to Okiro, he mentioned the three stages of the interview which includes, the Command interview headed by the commissioner of police, zonal interview conducted by AIG, and the IGP’s interview.

Shortly after the zonal interview headed by the then AIG, Sunday Ehindero, Oba Akiolu who was also an Assistant Inspector General of Police at that time drove into Zone 2 in his 504-official car, simply to check up on Faruk Raheem and I, to get feedback about the interview exercise. That was how I met Faruk Raheem and we have been fantastic colleagues and best of friends ever since.

“Eventually, I was shortlisted among other Lagosians and was advised to report to the Police Academy on or before 15th of August 2002.

“Kabiyesi Oba Alayeluwa Rilwan Akiolu demanded to meet with me before going to the academy at his Berkley Penthouse residence in Obalende where we spent ample time together and shared his experiences with me.

“I can remember clearly how he advised that I should be disciplined. And that it must reflect in my chase for wealth, he also warned me to be careful of a place called Wudil, not far from the Police Academy, a popular beehive for prostitutes.”

The Outburst at Lagos State Government House

Prince Ajasa also highlighted how Gbolahan was unruly to him several years ago at the Lagos Government House.

“I met Gbolahan at the Government House while I was the PRO Students Union Government, LASU. The school authority had issues with the Students Union over the decision of the school to refuse students who presented the 1998 GCE result from writing their examination. The Students Union stood by the affected students because an injustice to one is injustice to all.

“We were in Lagos State Government House to seek the governor’s intervention because all efforts to save the affected students had failed.

“While in the Government House alongside other executive members of the Students Union, I sighted Gbolahan Lawal and made an attempt to exchange pleasantries, he arrogantly yelled at me saying in Yoruba O fe gba ise lo wo mi ni?

“The incidence at the State House degenerated into a family issue, despite that I never knew he was Tinubu’s Escort Commander prior to that time.

“I was strongly warned by my father never to return to the government house to seek for Gbolahan assistance on the matter, his mum had accused me of sinister moves to get him out of the job.

“I was advised to explore other alternatives to solve the Students Union fracas with the school authority.

“However, in exploring other alternatives to redress the matter legally, the Students Union took the case to court.

“While the matter was already in the court of law, I had to personally meet with the Vice-Chancellor on the matter. Also, the Late Oba of Lagos, Adeyinka Oyekan intervened, he directed the Late Oba Yekini Elegushi to troubleshoot the issue.

“I was hopeful that with the intervention of our traditional leaders, we can pacify the Vice-Chancellor to convince the Senate to permit affected students write their exams, hence absorbing them into the University.
“Unfortunately, all efforts hit a brick wall.

“Justice Kekere Ekun, presently a supreme court judge, later granted the Students Union Government an interlocutory injunction, restraining the school authority from expelling the concerned students, hence, approving their absorption into the school system.

It is noteworthy that if Gbolahan had responded positively, by helping to facilitate a smooth negotiation with the governor, the disagreement between the SUG and the school authority would never have degenerated into a court case.

Ambition to become Fashola’s ADC
When asked if he had ever been favoured by his older cousin, since he joined the police force. Prince Ajasa affirmed that though he persuaded Gbolahan Lawal to support his ambition to become the ADC to former Governor Fashola, but his cousin did not take the opportunity to act.

According to Ajasa, “Unfortunately, Gbolahan lost another window of opportunity to at least play a supportive role in my career as a police officer.” Ajasa said.

“In 2007, I was recommended by few notable individuals including Honourable Fuad Oki, who was the DG BRF Campaign Organisation”, he narrated

“In fact, I had my regalia ready in anticipation for the inauguration of BRF’s first term in office as the Governor of Lagos State”, Prince Ajasa further explained.

“Gbolahan favoured Fisayo, who was the Escort Commander at that time, so as to cover up many of their shady activities.

“Again in 2010, he carefully schemed me out of Lagos to Osun out of my wish so as to have Fisayo remain as ADC.

“On Fisayo’s wedding day, the Former Head Of Service, Yakubu Balogun mistakenly announced while chatting that Governor Fashola had directed him to prepare my letter of appointment.

“While discussing carelessly, Yakubu Balogun further mentioned that the designation was yet to be ascertained and that led to the delay in officially signing my appointment.

“That singular error of letting the cat out of the bag by the HOS, gave the Gbolahan led cabal the opportunity to strengthen their strategy to scheme me out of Lagos State Government House.

Assignment as Rauf Aregbesola’s ADC

“I have also been notified of rumours alluding that Gbolahan Lawal helped me in becoming Ogbeni’s ADC. This also is totally false and misleading.

“First of all, I initially showed no interest in becoming Aregbesola’s ADC.

“At the same time, I must honestly express that I have no regret working with Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, but it is important to clearly lay out the facts”

“I told Asiwaju recently when he asked for feedback from my personal consultations with leaders on the Obaship tussle, I mentioned that I have consulted with notable Lagosians and few leaders including Ogebeni Rauf Aregbesola, and he annoyingly said, “what has becoming an Oba in Lagos got to do with Aregbesola?” I made him know that I never knew Ogbeni from Adam. I got to know Ogbeni through Tinubu.

“On the eve of Ogbeni’s inauguration as the governor of Osun State, Asiwaju called me to bourdillon and instructed me to go to Osun against my wish”, Prince Ajasa narrated.

“So, it is pertinent to ask our newly imposed king to explain how he has ever helped me in my career so far. I have just laid out the simple truth, and facts don’t lie, many respectable names mentioned earlier can bear me witness,” he concluded.
