The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State last night Saturday said it rejected the result of the Friday local government polls in Abia State conducted by the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC), “because it was heavily rigged and falsified by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP”).

The State Chairman of the party, Chief Donatus Nwankpa told newsmen in Umuahia Saturday evening, that ABSIEC acted on the influence of the ruling PDP which appointed its members and bankrolls its expenses.

He stated that areas where APC shows strength and strong presence were the same areas where PDP candidates were declared winner, pointing out that LGs like Bende, Isuikwuato, Umunneochi, Aba North and Aba South are strongholds of APC.

He further declared that the party rejected results due to irregularities, absence of voting materials as well as manipulation of figures that characterized the election, adding that election did not take place in many local government area polling units in the state.

Nwankpa accused Professor Mkpa Agu Mkpa led ABSIEC of not having the capacity to conduct a free, fair and credible election, alleging that ABSIEC was not prepared for the polls.

The APC chairman while urging the party supporters and faithful to remain calm, said that APC would challenge the outcome of the election in court.

Meanwhile, the result release last night Saturday, December 19, 2020 by ABSIEC shows that the PDP won all the Chairmanship seats of the 17 LGAs of the state. The party also won 2187 Councillorship seats, leaving the Labour Party (LP) to win four Councillorship positions.

Announcing the result at about 12 midnight on Sunday, the Chairman of ABSIEC, Professor Mkpa Agu Mkpa said APC and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) did not win any seat.

The results as declared by ABSIEC are as follows: Arochukwu, the only PDP fielded a Candidate. Orji Daniel Kalu declared as winner of the poll as chairman.

Isiala Ngwa South, the only candidate from PDP, Anyataonwu Ikechialso cleared the poll as chairman. Isiala Ngwa North, APC 210, PDP 18323. PDP candidate, Ochiulo Chinwendu was declared winner.

Bende LG, APC, 6,320, PDP 33,561. PDP candidate Onwuchekwa Emmanuel was declared winner. Ikwuano LG, APC – 110, PDP-8720, PDP candidate, Mpamugo Stephen was declared winner.

Ohafia LG, APC – 3520, PDP- 28671. PDP candidate Ukaiwe Okoroafor O was declared winner. Isuikwuato LG, APC- 1,200, PDP – 15630, PDP candidate, Agbaeze Chimaobi was declared winner.

Osisioma Ngwa LG, APC – 10, PD-P 26,820. PDP candidate, Kamalu Christian was declared winner. Ugwunagbo LG, APC – 120, PDP – 28,800, Nnata Chinasaokwu. PDP candidate was declared winner. Ukwa East LG, APC 136, PDP- 6,235, PDP candidate, Nwagbara Chuks was declared winner.

Ukwa West LG, APC – 804, PDP – 9630, PDP candidate, Kanu Okechukwu Levi was declared winner. Umuahia North, APC – 25, PDP – 29,931, PDP candidate, Njinkeonye Ugochukwu was declared winner.

Umuahia South PDP candidate, Humphery Chukwudi Benson won convincingly with over 11,000 votes and was declared winner, while the PDP candidate for Umunneochi LG, Ifeanyi Madu was also declared winner by the electoral body.
