Jah Man:

The only thing working for Ribadu is that he chose/camped with a western party. Those tribalists do not reason when it has to do with anything concerning their tribe and will ordinarily vote for him on that basis.Even the educated among them can analyse issues intelligently but when it's time to cast their votes, tribe will take a better part of them.I have been a victim, however, there are few exceptions.

Truth be told;all enlightened guys from the North,North Central,South-East that I know have swayed from GEJ/Ribadu to Buhari, including my humble self-a Biafran.
Buhari is  a Northerner(Muslim) and Bakare is from the West, but that is where I pitch my tent. For as much as human beings can be trusted, they present a better hope for the future of this country.

The cheap blackmail on Buhari is that he is a religious extremist and will islamise the country. That is a big joke.He didn't do that as a military dictator,is it now?
Ribadu might try to fight corruption, but Buhari will do it better. If we do not clear the old stock that keep corrupting the new breed, how do we clean up the system?
It is only Buhari that can face those monsters like IBB,OBJ,Tinubu, etc and probe them.

I am not just arguing here,I am begging all of us to arise and vote for Buhari as this is the last chance he has to really take this country back to his dream country where corruption will become a taboo just like honesty is a taboo now.

Thank you.

You are the tribalist! How many swesterners will vote for RIBADU? Do not let internet talks deceive you. It's either GEJ or BUHARI in SW!

Everybody keeps talking about corruption. Are there corrupt guys in the house? Do we agree Nigerians are corrupt? Or is it our Govt that is polluting our mind by not providing necessary infrastructure, services - leaving us to the mercy of tyrants. At least Man must chop.

Buhari did not say directly he will probe, what he said was 18 billion dollars has been spent between 1999 - 2007 and nothing to show for it, we need to know what happened to the money and how it got lost.

Common sense will tell us , it is still Nigerians that will work in the ministries , it is still a bulk of the same people that will do everything. If one does not know how th eprevious billions got missing, whatever plan or amount is voted to the sector will go down the same way the earlier money went down the drain.

While silmutaneously working on the power they have to identifyt the loop holes of which money is siphoned away. Or Do you think OBJ did not sincerlyw ant power for Nigerians, Bola Ige himself said he was going to turn stone to Bread and after 2 years he could not do anything he was tranferred to justice ministry. Wonderful plans have been on the table since 1999 buddie, the problem is not planning as we have tons and tons of wonderful blueprints. Vultures are lying in wait for the funds to be awarded so they can swallow

On the other hand, can we now assume that Ribadu is corrupt since he is hobnobing with IBB? After all, birds of the same feather, flock together. Had the headline been "IBB endoreses Jonathan", my screen would had melted out of the heat arising from vexation of the so called opposition.

One funny fact is this: democracy is not military rule. As much as democracy allows all manner of opinions, issues like this will always be there.

Now that IBB has made his selection, Goodluck and his team should be very careful.

IBB, the guru, the best of all, the greatest we've ever witnessed and the man with enormous wisdom.
His action by feeding Ribadu and other AC N party members yesterday represents the message he (IBB) has been preaching for many years, that says: it isn't about any party or anybody, it is all about rebuilding this nation.
In my book, IBB remains the best of the best. I love the man.

Ribadu knows the priceless value of having IBB on his side of the coin and he will learn a lot.

Instead of giragira, Unpolished style, If Ribadu could just chill out, or relax and allow great things to come his way, sky is the limit.

How can you visit the homeland of a former head of state without paying courtesy call for whatever reason??Even if IBB had been convicted of criminality.HABAA,please do not allow sentiments to over ride our sense of reasoning.

They did not go there to beg for endorsement for GOD sake.IBB made voluntary statements out of appreciation for the visit.

How can people be so naive? Does anybody expect that a president of Nigeria will not dine with the likes of IBB? We have too many jokers that have no clue about politics. Muammar Gaddafi once wined and dined with the west, today he is under fire from the west!

Many people are hoping people like Ribadu and Buhari will come into power and put everybody in jail. What a huge joke. Anybody that can reason properly will not vote because they think somebody can kill corruption, or is a superhero that will erase every corrupt person in the country. You vote because a man has capacity to deliver. Look at the plans the man has for Power, Education, etc. Not how many probes he wants to conduct. This is where Buhari fails woefullly. He has lacks vision and capacity. Ribadu has vision and capacity to deliver. GEJ even has more plans than Buhari.

We need to wake up from this emotionally induced dream we have found ourselves in. Damn!

If a Ribadu can be excused for wining and dining with the evil genius, why not GEJ? It is the height of hypocrisy for anyone to excuse Ribadu for an act which he/she has consistently condemned GEJ for. He who stands for nothing will fall for anything, while he who stands for something will not be shaken by political expediency to compromise his integrity.

On the issue of plans, I'll urge you to take a closer look at the Buhari/Bakare (CPC) manifesto and compare it with the Ribadu/Adeola manifesto. Get your self informed before you start shooting ignorantly.

My man , Buhari too declared, publicly ,  that "Abacha never stole a Kobo" . Abacha's son , while it is his democratic rights , is actually a gubernatorial candidate under the CPC banner so lets stop the holier-than-thou pontification . If the son of one of the most cruel dictator in our history , as per his democratic right , is running for an important office , with Buhari's backing, why does Ribadu now stand condemned because he has gained the backing of IBB? Is it not also IBB's democratic right to endorse anyone he wants same as Buhari , as the leader of the CPC Party, is free to endorse Abacha's son for a guber position?

Pretense to Jesus-like piousness does all of us no good in our quest for a better Nigerian.  No man is perfect and it certainly is not favourable for Buhari fans to talk as if he is , while they pretend everyone else is condemned and inferior in comparison to Buhari,  because issues can be raised about Buhari also that point to human fallibility and error of judgement. BB fans must remember that everyone cannot be judged according to what Buhari has done or has not done. Do you honestly think Buhari will reject IBB's endorsement if it was offered ? Remember it is the same Buhari that offered a VP ticket to a man (Bakare) who was vociferously scathing of his presidential ambition.

Wole Soyinka, Femi Falana and many other laudable men have endorsed Ribadu and I hear no noise . Yet , because IBB gave verbal endorsement , after Ribadu paid him a courtesy visit , we are to believe Ribadu has sold his soul ? Are we , as fair adults , precluding the option that IBB may simply have been impressed with Ribadu and Adeola? As for the comparison of GEJ to Ribadu , I think , while you used to be objective previously, you have finally joined the camp of the Buhari fans who feel they must demonise Ribadu to shore up Buhari. Let us examine issues critically . The many ruinous hands who have endorsed GEJ did not stop there alone because we can see them going beyond lip service to actively work for Mr. President with all they have  !!!!. I.e Anenih, OBJ, Yuguda et al . Yet it is Ribadu who should be condemned to hellfire for a verbal endorsement that may still turn out to be tongue-in-cheek? Until IBB takes to the road to be Ribadu's loud mouthpiece, as Anenih and others do for GEJ,  then I will take his endorsement as the same as that of Wole Soyinka i.e another important and influential man in Nigeria's history giving vocal support to a candidate he believe provides the best chance for Nigeria to move forward.

Let's just assume Buhari goofed for speaking about Abacha in that light, does that make it right for a Ribadu to deny ever investigating Damn Dame Jonathan? What moral grounds does Ribadu have to deny he never called Tinubu unprintable names? Now we have the same Ribadu cuddling up with IBB.

Now on Abacha, would you honestly compare the development Nigeria has witnessed in the last 12 years with Abacha's 5 year rule? Abacha may have been a tyrant, however, I know for sure that the average Nigerian saw more progress in terms of infrastructural development between 1994 and 1999 as compared to 1999 to 2011. Only a blind and dim witted Nigeria will deny this fact. On Abacha's son, I think you are delibrately trying to be mischievous because it is on record that Buhari's choice was never Abacha's son. This fact is known 'cos Mohammed Abacha initially included Buhari amongst those he sued to court when his name was substituted for a preferred candidate by the party elders. Mohammed only withdrew Buhari's name 'cos he knows there was no way on earth he'll become Kano State governor without Buhari's support. By the way, PDP will win the Kano state governorship election. Buhari has abstained from endorsing Mohammed Abacha. If Buhari supports a candidate, he does it publicly, just the same way he supported Marwa in Adamawa state for example.

Pretense to Jesus-like piousness does all of us no good in our quest for a better Nigerian.  No man is perfect and it certainly is not favourable for Buhari fans to talk as if he is , while everyone else is condemned and inferior in comparison to Buhari,  because issues can be raised about Buhari also that point to human fallibility and error of judgement. No Buhari supporter that I know has ever claimed that the man is infallible. What we are saying is that he's the cleanest. As per IBB's endorsement, the Buhari will certainly not accept IBB's endorsement. This much we know 'cos of the verbal war in which Qasim Afegba (IBB spokesman) and Odumakin (Buhari's spokesman) engage in shortly after Buhari visited IBB in Minna. One clear issue with Buhari is that we know he'll not cut a deal with anyone on issues of corruption.
Buhari offering Bakare the VP slot is in fact a big plus for him. It shows that the man is willing to work with those who may have castigated him in the past as long as such individuals have no known record of corruption hanging around their neck. Buhari is ready and willing to work with any Nigerian who has credible records of standing firm against corruption and nepotism.

Yet , because IBB gave verbal endorsement , after Ribadu paid him a courtesy visit , we are to believe Ribadu has sold his soul ?
As long as Ribadu does not come out publicly to deny the news, he'll never be able to wash himself clean from the baggage of IBB and others like him.

IBB endorsed Atiku after losing out to the latter in the NPLF choice. IBB never went out publicly to campaign for Atiku, but the former ensured that the delegates from Niger state (and some other northern states) voted for Atiku at the PDP primaries. IBB i not known to endorse anyone without cutting deals and he surely has never gone out to campaign physically for anyone he endorses.

Dude , Buhari publicly gave Abacha a clean bill of health . Get over it !!!!!!!!!!!!! Welcome to Nigerian politics where we are all pragmatically duty bound to accept the flaws of our candidates , in seeing their overall worth, rather than obtusely and blindly defending everything they have done wrong because we seek messiahs rather than effiicient human beings who have the same flaws and fallibility we all have . The minute you elevate Buhari to the status of completely holier-than-others  messiah is the point at which you alienate many Nigerians who , by dint of talent and success at the highest level, , want more convincing that Buhari can deliver . In the past 23 years when Buhari has been inactive do you know what Fola Adeola, Ribadu and many young technocrats  have achieved ? Why should those set of self-made achievers   continue to defer to the past? Tell me why ? At the very least , if you are an honest person, you will understand and be minimally supportive of why self-made folks like Ribadu and Adeola are presenting themselves for leadership.

Abacha Never Stole, Say Buhari, Babangida.

From Ibrahim Shuaibu in Kano, 06.09.2008

THIS DAY

The late military Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, did not loot the national treasury contrary to the general impression, two military former heads of state have said.
Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, who ruled Nigeria between 1983 and 1985, and his successor, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, gave Abacha the clean bill in Kano yesterday after the rememberance prayers marking 10 years of the death of Abacha, who ruled between 1993 and 1998.
Abacha was accused of stealing nearly £5 billion while in office, out of which over $1 billion has reportedly been recovered from various sources around the world.
But Babangida, who described Abacha as a “courageous, loyal and honest military head of state who stood for the unity and development of the country during his years in government”, has dismissed the allegations.
He said the looting allegations against Abacha were unfounded and baseless, stressing that “it is not true that he looted public treasury. I knew who Abacha was because I was close to him”.
Babangida said: “Abacha was a courageous person who stood firmly in handling the affairs of the country during his regime.”
He added that the regime of Abacha brought positive changes in the country which should have been emulated.
He said 10 years after the death of Abacha, his contributions to the nation’s economy remain indelible.
“There is no doubt, during his administration as head of state, Abacha contributed his best to the nation’s economy which we are still enjoying,” he said.
Babangida’s new position however contrasts with what he told Newswatch magazine in July 2000.
He had said: “The revelations [on Abacha’s loot] surprised me. I am surprised, because I didn't know.”
He had also explained that Abacha's death brought 'relative stability', adding that 'it gives us, oh well, let's see, there is hope after all'.
Babangida, in that interview, also blamed the society for allowing Abacha to grow into the dictator he became.
'I feel bad that society failed to realise that they have a duty to protect whatever values they hold dear to their hearts as far as this country is concerned. At any rate, there are people I like and do respect those who stood against the regime, who are not military officers but civilians who are able to speak out. They didn't mince words and if their views had been heard, he wouldn't have [done enough harm],' he had said in response to a question.
Buhari, in his own comments yesterday, described the allegations of looting against Abacha as “baseless”, because according to him, “ten years after Abacha, those allegations remain unproven because of lack of facts”.

While also commenting, former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, who took over when Abacha died on June 8, 1998, commended his predecessor for initiating Vision 2010, saying that the economic vision of the present administration termed Vision 2020 is a replica of Abacha’s 2010 initiative.
Abubakar also tasked Nigerian politicians to concentrate on how best to contribute to national development instead wasting time and money investigating their predecessors, adding that probing past administrations “does not yield anything positive to the nation and should be discouraged”.
Babangida also spoke on the probe of his government by the immediate past administration, saying: “We are still waiting for the outcome of the probe.”
The three former leaders sat close to one another during the special prayer session which started exactly 10am and lasted for over one hour at an open compound belonging to the family of the former head of state.
The prayer session was attended by former Abacha’s aides, Emirs of Hadejia, Gumel, Jema’a and Chief Fredrick Fasehun of Odua Peoples Congress (OPC).

NATION IBB, Buhari Abdulsalami defend Abacha 9/6/2008

From Suleiman Dangana, Kano

Three former military Heads of State – Generals Ibrahim Babangida, Muhammadu Buhari and Abdulsalami Abubakar – yesterday described the allegations of looting against the late General Sani Abacha as baseless.
They spoke in Kano at the 10th anniversary lecture in memory of the late Head of State.Babangida described Abacha as a courageous, loyal and honest leader, who stood for the country’s unity and development during his eight years regime.

'It is not true that he looted public treasury, I knew who Abacha was because I was close to him,' Babangida said.

He added that Abacha’s regime has brought positive changes the country which everyone should emulate.

He said 10 years after death of the former head of state his contributions to the national economy are indelible.

'There is no doubt that during his administration as head of state, the late Abacha contributed his best to the nation’s economy which we are still enjoying.

'Things have been done wrongly in the past, what should be done was not done, but we believe that the subsequent administrations would build up positively from where the previous governments stopped,' said Babangida.

Abdulsalami praised Abacha for initiating the vision 2010, saying, the recent economic mission of the present administration termed as vision 2020 was a replica of General Abacha’s vision 2010 initiative.

Abdulsalami urged politicians to concentrate on how best to contribute positively to national development instead of wasting time and resources in investigating their predecessors.

'Probing past administrations will not yield anything positive to the nation and should be discouraged,' he said.

Buhari described the allegations of looting against Abacha as lacking basis.

'Ten years without the late Abacha, the said allegations remain silent because there are no facts,' he said.Kano State Governor Malam Ibrahim Shekarau also participated at the 10th anniversary prayer for Abacha.

Also present at the prayer session was the founder of the Odu’a Peoples Congress (OPC) Dr Fredrick Fasehun who said he was in Kano to sympathise with the Abacha family.

Asked why he was in Kano, Fasehun said he was never against any particular person but against military rule. He added: 'we are in democracy, it goes to show that every Nigerian now enjoys democracy but didn’t like military rule.'

The prayer session was also witnessed by the Minister of Defence, Alhaji Ahmed Yayale, former governor of Kano State, Senator Kabir Gaya and Emirs from various northern states.
