Mere words could not quantify the Joy on the faces of Mr and Mrs Sunday Odii and other members of their family when they were reunited with Miss Blessing Sunday Odii, their 15-year-old daughter who had gone missing since on the 11th of November, 2020.
The 15 years old Blessing, who is said to be defective in speech, was reported to have gone missing on November 11, after leaving her mother’s shop at Garriki, Awkunanaw, Enugu, to an unknown destination, and since then, all frantic efforts made by her parents to locate her whereabouts proved abortive until she was later found.

What made the reunion of the family with their daughter more interesting however was the miraculous circumstance in which Blessing was found.

According to a statement by the Enugu State Police Command, signed by the Public Relations Officer, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, while the search was going on for her, Blessing was found in New Haven area of the Enugu by one Miss Deborah Ndidiamaka Eneh, who took her home and was supported by her elder sister, Mrs Ikechi Odu and her husband, Mr Jonathan Odu, to cater for her pending when she is properly identified and claimed by her parents or relatives.

This was after they had reported the situation at both New Haven Police Station and the Ministry of Gender Affairs.

Interestingly and In what seems to be a miraculous coincidence, Little Miss Blessing was brought to the Command’s Police Public Relations Office for documentation in-view of a Television and Radio announcement press release when, without any prior knowledge, her mother, Mrs Ijeoma Odii also choose to visit the same Office to report and apply for the announcement of her missing child.

And like the unrestrained attraction of a metal to a magnet, mother and daughter found themselves uncontrollably hugging each other with a free flow of tears of joy, following the over one month period of portentous separation. This left on-lookers at the Headquarters in awe.

On receipt of the report of this act of wonder, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmad AbdurRahman FIPCDS, FICMC, FCAI, MNIM lauded the humanitarian and charitable disposition of Miss Edeh and Mr./Mrs. Jonathan Odu to the missing but now found and reunited Little Miss Blessing, describing it as “an uncommon show of compassion and charity.” He further enjoined residents of the State and the general public to take a cue from these Good Samaritans and be not weary in loving and caring for people in need and distress, as the teenager.

You mean that if a person is reported missing in one police station, then it is only when he/she is found and brought to that police station that they will be reunited with their family? Don't the police have data bases and networks where the missing persons pics and details are flashed to every police station in the federation as well as neighbouring countries? After that, it shouldn't take more than 30 seconds to match a found person with a missing persons report using facial recognition software.
