By omitting a book romance perspective from Expanse season 5, The Expanse seems to have evaded a possible bullet. In the last run of the Expanse on Amazon Prime 4 core characters are separated, sent during a much-needed break from saving the planet on different missions. The crews now, like many families, are unable to reconnect in different parts of the solar system. However, their separation offers them an insight into what's going on in the world which humanity has made for itself.
