I see where you are coming from, but the point is that the CRB process, to the best of my knowledge at the time, works that way.
The first time I got one, I was still in Nigeria. I went down to Ikoyi myself, and when I got there, I asked them what to do and I was directed to an office where I met one chap (not the guy who was extensively advertised on the Canada thread) who took my fingerprints and a copy of my passport and gave me the form to fill. He then told me a price (6k or so, can't remember), told me it would take about an hour, and then we went through the process, they issued me the certificate.

So when I was outside Nigeria and I needed another one, I simply contacted him again, and he told me to download the form online, get a stamp pad and place my fingerprints on it and send a photo to print out along with a copy of my passport. I did that, and scanned it to my cousin, who printed out the form and photo and took it there and the PCC was issued.

Given that the process I followed from the UK was the same process I followed when I was in Nigeria, I have to say that there's no "encouragement or fostering of corruption there", because it was exactly the same thing. I didn't pay anything to facilitate or queue-jump the day I went to Ikoyi myself, I went there early in the morning and was the only person in their semi-furnished office for the whole hour or so I waited. I am well aware that like many such processes in Nigeria out of the 6k I paid the first time and the 7.5k I paid the second time, probably less than half of it went into government coffers, but that's the way that particular system has been programmed to operate and I don't see how that can be circumvented unless you don't want the PCC.

To the best of my knowledge, there is (or was 2 years ago) no online PCC portal, no Remita or official paypoint where you go and pay only maybe 2k or so and get an official receipt then go and demand issuance of your PCC from the police at that price, no such thing. It's totally different from the passport process for example, we all know how that works, I was impressed when I read here that you can go online and pay the official fee and then go and demand "capturing" and issuance of your passport as opposed to just paying an amount way above the official fee to get one ASAP with as little hassle as possible which has become normalised. We all know the difference between the two and the second process is to be discouraged.

If I needed another, I would follow the previous process I went through again, which is definitely official because it's the exact same process I would follow if I were in Nigeria and had gone to their offices myself and your presence is not needed for a criminal records check. I see it as being akin to having another passport issued for countries who do the passport issuance process by mail for their citizens residing abroad.

A previous poster mentioned something about a 100 quid fee for Nigerians abroad to get this done. I didn't know about this before, but that's a shitload of money and I see that fee as simply being the usual extortion the government applies to citizens abroad with the mindset that they have money to pay, and do not see anything wrong with saving myself money by following yet another official process.

That is the system i'm referring to, not contact a govt official privately through whatsapp to get something done. The indiviaul will charger whatever he wants and probably pocket some of that money.

We should stop encouraging this sort of thing, Its only helping few corrupt officials

k u are not getting what cyberknight said... there is no remita payment for pcc in nigeria. If u go by yourself to fcid ikoyi u pay 6k or so.. abuja u pay 10k... cyberknight is saying he/she went by theirself to fcid office and still paid 6k and second time 7500 for same thing bcus there is no online paymnt.
U pay to the govt office.
Except u are telling us you are encouraging payment of over 110 pounds for same document, only that Nigerian govt extorts you higher bcus u are from abroad... and they feel u can afford it.
Pls as long as Nigerians in Nigeria can get it cheaper.. 5k to 7k as against 110 pounds for people in the abroad, if it were me I will go with the Nigerian option until the Nigerian government provides a centralized payment system for this in Nigeria.

Something that is 3500 naira, why is the Nigerian government ensuring that the citizens abroad pay over 110 pounds.. with today’s exchange rate that is 74k... is something not wrong with this same Nigerian govt?

I also think you didn't quite understand all Cyberknight extensively explained.
His point is that the only process for obtaining a PCC in Nigeria is informally official, you can put it that way, as a variable amount of money must pass through a police officer in the records department in cash to secure the document.

I've also done the PCC for myself and on behalf of someone abroad, and that was exactly the process.
If I need another I definitely won't pay 110 pounds for it and would default back to this option.

I'm also saying that that is wrong, it shouldn't be done that way and we should not be dropping contact details of such official here.

I do understand what he said but that doesn't mean that its ok to run govt business that way and we should all accept and move on

That is not what i'm saying and i will not pay that.

Years ago when i wanted to do CRB i went to police station here and pay £20(i think its free now) and get my fingerprint done then send it to my brother in Nigeria, he went to police station to complete the process and send back to me.

If you know any officer and want to deal with him then go ahead but to be advertising his number here is what I'm against.

Hello everyone.

Please I applied to Teeside University on the 17th of March and I was offered admission today on the 20th of March.

I am considering accepting the offer by next week.

I applied for msc in international management.

Please is there any one here that is currently in Teeside University that can share with me how good Teeside University is in terms of how dedicated they are in impacting knowledge and seeing student through their masters program as I heard some schools are just after the money they get from international student.

Please I will appreciate your input. Thanks.

Please if this has been answered previously just point me to the right direction, no need to be rude.....Also please anyone know schools that offer 2 years MSC, I already know Teeside, preferable in England, close the Leeds and environs.....if you can name any I would appreciate.

Good evening all.. I mentioned that I got admission from Birkbeck University, London and I have done my thorough research, it actually checks out as a higher education institution provider and I won’t have issues with post study visa but here is my dilemma;

1) It is the only school that has asked for Tuition deposit as cheap as 200£, how would it reflect on my CAS if my tuition is 18,000£ and I paid just 200£? Should I pay 1000£ instead since I have that available instead of 200£?

2) Why is it not so popular considering how cheap the deposit and the flexibility of tuition fee is(You can pay monthly), I have never heard anybody talk about the school, I am so scared.

3) They only offer evening classes, is this a good thing?

Your response would really help!

1) CAS is issued on university's terms. The kókó is getting CAS whether you pay min or max and has no relevance in your application as long as requirements are met.

2) there are several universities and I believe not all can be mentioned. Just like I've never heard anyone mention University for the Creative Arts. As long as they have a sponsorship licence, wetin you dey find again smiley

3) from what time is 'evening'? Are classes from 5pm?
