Let your sister tell you the truth if she needs help, her card cannot be compromised without her input. Ask questions, what has she done online recently with the card. I am not ruling out the possibility of atm cloning, but I have a feeling she gave some details out. Some backs ATMs dont need otp e.g Access,
Why would you need an OTP when you are using ur card to withdraw from ATM? Please which of the bank sends otp when you are withdrawing from ATM?

There is really no cause for alarm here. You need to ask your sister if she had anything to do with "Branch" - maybe she took a loan from them at one point because they usually obtain their Customers card details (with heir consent) as a means of repayment.

If she has nothing to do with them, then it's time to take the fight to their office. Rest your mind.

The reason nothing is done by banks is because it is bank staff responsible for fraud.

It could be the same person who compromised your account that you would be reporting to, so naturally they will try to frustrate you from following it up.
You guys are quick to accuse bank staff for your own foolishness...A loan app is probably responsible for these debit and yet but you and the poster are quick to claim it is an insider's job...
You cannot blame someone else for your foolishness

.... As soon as you mentioned GTB, what happened to me a few weeks ago came to mind... I couldn't use my first bank because I didn't have a working atm card so I decided to transfer 26k into my GTB so I can use it and just like a movie... I saw the money I transferred into the account disappear without any alert..... Funny enough, there was no details of the debit from my account in the account statement which I generated from the app.... In the book balance I saw my 26k but in the actual balance I saw only 1k...that is on the gtb app...

I requested for the account to be blocked and all pending transactions cancelled as I didn't authorise any debit from my account. I went to the bank to lay complaints and they said I should fill a form and that it will take 90 days to conclude the investigation...... I told them that I am seeing the money in the book balance on the app... They said they can't stop it from leaving the account and that its only a matter of days before the money disappears.....i said they should at least tell me where the money went.... They said that is what they want to investigate for 90 days..... Lo and behold... 24hrs later I saw the actual alerts of my own money leaving my account without a trace....... Till today gtb have not told me what happened to my money...... I even contacted flutterwave because from the description, that was what was used to take the money but they said gtb has to be the one to contact them and not me.....i just came to the conclusion that gtb and most Nigerian banks are in partnership with scammers to defraud people...... I have attached a proof of the debit alerts I got and gtb response to my query...... Please if you find a solution to get your money back, I will love to follow same process because that money pain me and it has caused me alot because what I wanted to use it for is still not settled as we speak.
Don't worry, it will be resolved..... It didn't reflect in your statement because the money is still in the ledger not the main balance. Some inter-bank transaction can be frustrating sometimes. Before gtbank will credit you, they would send a mail to first bank to make some confirmation cos there are times a transaction will show you successful but would later reverse or probably the funds never left the sending bank so it depends on the swiftness of fiirstbank, it may not really be their fault.... Some banks don't respect SLA.

Her card has been compromised and cloned, before you withdraw from ATM machines especially those that are not in the bank premises, make sure you check that slot to see if it had a dummy casing like the real one, also check for hidden cameras.

Fraud can be carried out on your account through your debit card once you compromise your details which may not include your PIN.

My advice is to have an account that is not linked to online Banking and ATM card strictly for savings.

If you must use online banking, ensure you go to your bank and make sure you are guided through the onboarding process from start to finish, including transfer limit enhancement.

Never disclose sensitive details like PIN, C-V-V, card PAN numbers, OTP, your BVN, phone number or account number to anyone, physically over the phone or chat's etc. Only shop from credible websites. If possible link and pay with your cards through Google pay or PayPal.

For the debit cards, keep your card safe, if you have no business shopping online, I'll advice you to wipe out the C-V-V numbers behind your card and some PAN numbers in front of the card. Note this will give you protection against fraudsters that copy card details only.

If you really want to be safe while using your card, get debit cards from bank's that give you options of blocking and unblocking your card like UNION BANK and others. That way you only unblock your card from your mobile app when you want to withdraw or do online shopping after which you block your card. Note, this feature is different from destroying the card. It's like an on and of switch for card security.

Finally pray that people close to you or people you trust don't sabotage your finances cos that's the highest number of culprits responsible for these crime's. Husbands, wives, sons, daughters, house helps, relations boyfriends and girlfriends etc. Na dem ohh.

Please be safe out there. Oluwa go protect us as we dey try protect ourselves.

Peace.

.... U don't understand sir... I don't hade any issues with first bank..... When I transferred the money to my GTB from my 1st bank, I got the credit alert on my GTB.... The problem now is, as soon as i got the credit alert, someone removed the money from my GTB without my knowledge or authorisation and now gtb can't tell me who did..... It's a case of Internet fraud which I strongly believe gtb is a part of the syndicate.

The debits are clear...why is everyone commenting otherwise...Branch international was clearly the narration of the debit meaning a loan was repaid. Someone might have used her ATM details to obtain the loan.

The transaction ID carries branch INT . Branch is a loan app that automatically debits their money when the time to repay is due. Asides that you can repay willingly by yourself even before time is due. Someone must have used her ATM details to access a loan

You can't rule out that POS operator she last used. The person must have used her atm details to access the loan and repay.

Hello please ask your sister questions very well and you will see that she's not telling the truth. PG-BRANCH INTERNATIONAL is an online money lending micro finance bank. Ok.
Now your sister borrowed money from them and gave them her account details for direct debit, on due date. Thus if she does pay and the account is not active BRANCH keeps morning the account with their Remitter once any money comes in they will debit her so I think that's what happened.
Re: My Sister's Account Was Wiped Out While Her Atm Card Was With Her by chineduuf: 10:41pm On Dec 28, 2020
First of all, I will advice you go to the bank tomorrow when they open and make a complaint.

Secondly, ask your sister if she tried using her ATM for online purchases, whether declined or successful. I have seen people fall victim of of scam sites that promise widely sought products at ridiculously cheap price. When you enter your card details, it is the end of it. They use your card detail to transact on sites like "wish dot com" that does not send OTP. Some of these international merchants don't even need your PIN, all they require to carry out transaction is your card number and the 3 numbers behind the card.

Like it or not, we are all vulnerable. We can only do our best and hopefully, banks too will play their part to integrate more security features to detect and protect against fraudulent transactions.

I wish you luck.

she didnt do any of that but i suspect the last POS spot she withdrew the last 1k in that screenshots cause thats was her last transaction before they started zapping her money

Stop using Agent Banking.

It's pretty obvious the scammers collude with those POS operators and bankers.

You usually see them carrying multiple POS machines, they even slot people cards into one or two before completing your transaction. An average POS is a card reader. So that's how they clone cards.

Branch is a loan app and linking your card is a way of an "auto debit" once your loan tenure is due. Definitely your sister might have borrowed from them.
