The Plight Of Private School Teachers In Enugu State Continues Four Months After by goodtogo: 1:47pm On Dec 31, 2020
The plight of many private school teachers in Enugu state continues four months after the Covid-19 lockdown and the students paid their third term school fees. It would be recalled that the private school teachers were the worst hit by the lockdown of schools occasioned by the Covid-19 pandemic as the school proprietors could not pay them due to the fact that the schools were shut down and pupils did not pay their third term school with which teachers could be paid. How the teachers managed to survive the four to five lockdown without is only God When the lockdown was eventually lifted, the teachers heaved a sigh of relief thinking their plight was over. Unfortunately, most private school proprietors in Enugu have refused to pay their teachers their arrears despite collecting the full third term school fees from the students and pupils. Some of these teachers are owed four to five months salary arrears. If they hadn't collected the third term fees from the students, it would have been a different case, but collecting it and pocketing it while the teachers are still living in debt is not fair at all. Some of them instead of paying the arrears are now paying the current months which ordinarily should be taken care of with the first term's school fees.
I therefore use this opportunity to call on the government of Enugu state to investigate this matter and come to the rescue of these teachers. I know that the governor, Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, had these teachers in mind when he approved that schools in Enugu state should run third term after the lockdown. Please don't let unscrupulous proprietors to take advantage of your goodwill towards the private employees in Enugu to enrich themselves at the detriment of the poor teachers.
God bless the teachers
God bless Gov. Gburugburu.
Enugu state is in the hands of God
