( See Awolowo's 1948 " THOUGHT TO NIGERIA INDEPENDENT " ) where Awolowo asked the colonial government to bring Nigeria into 6 Regions from the then 3 Regions ( Northern Western and Eastern Regions) but the Colonialists failed to do so; but by 1963 when the then N C N C/ Hausa_Fulani coalition government created the Midwest Region from the then Western Region they rejected the creation of the C O R Region from the Eastern Region and Middle Belt Region ( Benue Plateau ) from the Northern Region and these led to the serious dealings with the supporters of the Awolowo's call. ( Wenike Briggs and Lulu Briggs for C O R, and Joseph Tarka for Middle Belt) by then government in power despite their creation of the Midwestern Region from the then Western Region.
