The people of Inyi in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State converged over the weekend last week in Umunyagbo quarters to celebrate a festival which comes up every three years.

The event featured various traditional activities, Including Onori, Enyi , Ekenekeh and
traditional dances, which entertained the guests from within and outside the community.

The event, which attracted elders s and youths from other communities in the state, cultural proponents, women groups and youths, also featured various meetings to restore peace in the community which had recently been ravaged by communal crises.

Speaking during the event, His Excellency Hon. Lucky Dikadi 2019 governorship candidate in Delta State commended elders and youths in the community for preserving the rich cultural heritage of the community, promising that he will do everything possible within his power to restore peace to the community and to support them to sustain the community norms and values.

Felicitating with the people of Inyi, Hon. Ifeanyi Onyia Edmoson an APC Chieftain in Delta State said he was at the event to identify with his people at the grassroots level, he described himself as humble and trustworthy and advised all to also embrace peace as no meaningful development can be achieved in the mist of disunity and crises.

The Ukor of the community, His royal Majesty, Chief Samuel I. Izendu the Ukor of Oinyi community festival imagebaluchi kingdom at Isiolu quarters expressed joy that he is being hopeful that lasting peace will soon be returned to the area since all their sons and daughters are now putting heads together to resolve the crises and urged the people of the community to always support what will promote the growth and development of the community and be their brothers keepers.

Performing the ceremony, the Gbadi of the community, Mr. Agenu Benson Uyabeme, appreciated God for giving the community stake holders wisdom in finding ways in returning peace to the community.
He said the festival is highly revered among Ndoshimili which according to him has been yielding positive results in bringing peace and unity among all and pleaded to all aggrieved parties to embrace peace.

Also speaking, the secretary of the community, Mr. Adinku Okwudili, noted that the festival affords them the opportunity of socializing with each other after a long period of farming and other activities.
There were foods in abundance, free of charge for all that graced the occasion to eat and feel at home.
