After 2000 years of this its easy to see why many of these Fulani settlements are collections of thatch birds nests in areas where the locals are trying to build skyscrapers.

Let's say you attack a Yoruba village. They are still building Eko Atlantic, so who cares? If you attack Igbos they are still manufacturing cars and running their own airlines so again, who cares? They will attack you back then you will spend the next x amount of years waiting to 'get revenge'. When it happens they will be more advanced than when you first came and you'll still be in a birds nest.
