I met some dude at the cinema some time ago and we got talking, he told me he was from Imo State and I was like oh really I've been there and when I pressed to know what part of Imo State, he said Orlu and I said I know ORLU and I asked what part and he asked me where n where I knew and been within ORLU and after telling him, he said he's from Amagu and it is another community in some other LGA in Imo called Oru.

So I think some we actually tell you they are from ORLU because ORLU is more popular.. That my personal take on this..

Orlu is the second biggest city in IMO state
It was created alongside owerri and okigwe,
After the olden IMO was divided to carve out Abia state,
Orlu regarded as a separate senatorial zone.
Among the 11 l.G.A Area the main urban areas are the oru east and oru west l.G.A, (with IMO state government estimating the 2 l.G.A population to be around 420,000) while the entire orlu city to have a population of 3millon

It has a long history and has played a critical role as the headquarters for the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) ran humanitarian relief agencies during the Nigeria-Biafra Civil War. The Nigerian headquarters of the British Cheshire Home is in the city.



Orlu is a home for enterprise and industry which gives it the unofficial tag of the commercial capital of Imo state. it is dear,I spent a large chunk of my years in Imo state and my in law is even from Njaba area so I know

these things are pretty recent when orlu-gedegwum the first town to see developments in that area and became the administrative area for the colonial masters
I am sure if you brought back an Oru/Njaba person that lived in the 1800s and called him an Orlu person i am sure you guys would have problems

There is orlu local government..mgbidi is under orlu zone..mgbidi is oru west local government and that is where the headquarters is located and ORLU ZONE have 12LGA NOT 11
