NWUCHE RECEIVES EKPEYE YOUTHS. URGES LEADERS/APPOINTEES TO USE THEIR POSITIONS FOR GOOD.

Esama Ekpeye Logbo and former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon Prince Chibudom Nwuche has urged youths to ensure peace in their areas to guarantee societal development.

Nwuche made this call when he received the leadership of Ekpeye Youth Congress world-wide who paid him an end of year visit at his Port Harcourt residence.

In his speech, the President General of the Ekpeye apex youth body Comrade Bright Ite told Nwuche that they were in his residence to “thank him and express the profound appreciation of Ekpeye youths and the Ekpeye Nation in general” for his commitment and selfless service for the peace, development and progress in Ekpeye Land.

Comrade Bright who described Nwuche as a Statesman and a leader of the Ekpeye people, commended him for standing behind and providing support to all strata of Ekpeye people especially the traditional institution, youths and women always and pledged the unalloyed loyalty and support of all Ekpeye people to Nwuche as he continues in his humanitarian gesture and philanthropy to the people and nation in general.

Also speaking, Secretary General of the Ekpeye Youth body Comrade Adokiye Oyagiri commended Nwuche for being a role model and for providing mentorship and guidance for not just Ekpeye youths but those of Rivers State, Niger Delta and Nigeria at large. He urged Nwuche to continue to provide the enabling environment for cooperation between Ekpeye youths and other youth groups in the country.

Hon Nwuche in his remarks thanked the youths for the visit and for their role in maintaining peace and orderliness in Ekpeye Kingdom. He urged them to continue to ensure peaceful coexistence amongst the people and to protect government, private and oil and gas facilities in their areas and to shun all acts of cultism and criminality that will result in insecurity in the area.

He urged them to be their brothers keepers and not to pull down each other as has always been the case in Niger Delta and to work with other youth groups like the Ijaw, Arewa, Ohanaeze Idigbo, Afenifere Youth councils to build a better, more equal and just Nigeria. A Nigeria where all will be treated fairly and equally irrespective of tribe, tongue or religion.

He urged them to support and work closely with the Rivers state government under the leadership of Governor Nyesom Wike who has been doing very well in rebuilding urban infrastructure and bringing development to all the local government areas of the state, emphasizing that politics should be about the people and any government that is doing well needs to be commended and supported by the people. He especially appreciated Gov Wike for standing by Rivers people irrespective of party, tongue and tribe.

He remarked that true leaders are judged by their impact on the welfare of the masses, and not by how many people they were able to pull down, but rather how many they pulled up.He described that kind of politics as toxic and a disenabler of individual and societal growth and partly responsible for the under development of the Niger Delta region. He urged Niger Delta appointees, especially the ministers and heads of parastatals to use their offices for the good of the people, and to use it to disempower Niger Deltans and other Nigerians,or fight perceived enemies.

As an apostle of transparency and allowing the people to choose their leaders devoid of manipulation, he commended the executive for emerging through a fair and transparent process.Remarking that our politicians should borrow a leaf from the youths.
