ESN: Governors of Eastern Region of Nigeria have agreed to set up their own Security team


The Governors of the Eastern Region of Nigeria have agreed to set up their own security team who will have their own uniforms and carry guns.


The chairman of the South-East Governors Forum and Ebonyi State Governor Dave Umahi told reporters on Tuesday that a special security meeting had been held online.

This comes as the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu set up their own security group and called it the 'Eastern Security Network'.

Umahi said: "Eastern governors have several conferences on our regional security."

"Currently, we are considering the type of uniforms the security personnel will wear which will be the same in all the Eastern regions."

"We are also considering the vehicles they will be using, and it will be the same in the Eastern region."

"We have also discussed how to provide these security personnel with adequate training to ensure that they perform their duties efficiently, which is to protect people's lives and property."


"Over the next few weeks, we will be releasing uniforms to enhance the security situation in our region."

As long as the primary task of securing the East is guaranteed then no wahala. ESN can control things from the forests where they seem to be doing some serious work judging by the apparent inactivity of the herdsmen recently. The official South East security network that's about be launched and "constitutionally recognized" can oversee the general security blueprints... it's sad it took a brave act of initiative from a single man to shake up the Eastern governors into finally doing the needful smh.

Unity of purpose will ultimately help keep the enemy at bay. Let's unite to fight bandits, kidnappers and armed robbers.

Let's just say ESN needs a back up, the security outfit the SE governnors will launch will surely have all the financial supports and logistics to operate... what we should pray against is that they don't start looking to start some government sponsored supremacy war against the ESN members... the ultimate goal is security and peace in the East.
