President Muhammadu Buhari has urged Nigerians to desist from actions and comments that could jeopardise the unity and progress of the nation.

The president, who said this in Abuja yesterday on the occasion of this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day, reminded Nigerians of the need to guard the unity of the nation which he said was “won at great cost”.

He said “Nigeria’s strength lies in her diversity”.

President Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on the occasion laid wreaths in commemoration of the 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day at the National Arcade Eagle Square in Abuja to honour fallen heroes.

Dignitaries who also laid wreaths at the ceremony include Senate President Ahmed Lawan, Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila of the House of Representatives, and Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Tanko Muhammad, among others.

Buhari, who honoured the memory of the nation’s fallen heroes and veterans, recounted their sacrifices during the First and Second World Wars; the Nigerian Civil War and Peace Support Operations around the world.

The president, while speaking on the support for families of members of the Armed Forces who died in active service, said the unfortunate cost of the fight against insurgency and other internal security challenges was the unavoidable losses of lives of some gallant compatriots.

He hailed charity organisations that engaged in the noble cause of bringing succour to the families of fallen heroes and veterans.

Highlight of the ceremony was the signing of Register by President Buhari who later released pigeons for the Armed Forces Remembrance Day which signifies peace and unity of the country.

Jumaat prayers and Interdenominational Church Service had earlier been held for the 2021 Remembrance Day Celebration where the need for Nigerians to honour the sacrifices of the men and women of the Armed Forces had been stressed.

We will win this war as a nation.

God bless our gallant soldiers as they lay their lives on the line for peace to reign in our darling nation.

Nigeriadondie:

Because of some face lifting you say we will get there.
We are getting nowhere.
If that is your prayer for you and your family, may God grant it on your behalf.
If you don't want to get to somewhere good and prosperous, no one is forcing you to.
As for good, positive minded and sane Nigerians, we will get there.
And next time, kindly check the moniker you are quoting before bringing any negative vibes around....okay?

crafteck:
I respect u for this picture, says a lot
Thank you sir,
A picture speaks more than a thousand words!

This is coming from the divider-in-chief, who ever came up with this unity in diversity is a comedian..The point of diversity is to ensure there's no unity why can't we accept the truth...

I blame buhari and osibanjo for worsening the division in Nigeria.(yes both of them no be only buhari sabi collect blame)

Buhari and Osinbajo are the real divisionist in the country. They are two Irredeemable ethnic and religious Irredentist...

They rule by nepotism and surround themselves with their ethnic persons in a diverse country like Nigeria...

A repeat of buhari/Osinbajo again by any means is catastrophic and hyper disastrous..

Hiding under the cloak of pastor to be perpetuating all sorts of Political frauds.

You have spoken well.
Same thing we have been saying on a weekly basis here.
God bless your parents for giving us a King like you.
It is always good and refreshing to see we still have reasonable members like you on this forum.
All the enemies of Nigeria will be put to shame las las.
As long as they never want to read any good news about Nigeria (what consist of Nigeria if not the people living in it),
Good news will always be far from them in life.
Children of hate, frustrations and perdition will all end frustrated in life.
If you love Nigeria (the people) good things will always locate you in life, and we will leap for joy at the end.
Swines, stay of this post, but if you are one, then quote to say rubbish, let sane and good Nairalanders know you today! tongue

Nigeria is a nation built on falsehood. How can't it divide?

People were forced to live together by a foreign British Man and the inhabitants are still fighting to keep that forced union. Isn't that absolute stupidity?

Which divisive comments again. Nigeria is already divided so it's not a new thing. The leaders should at least develop the country so we can take solace in that one.......

They should endeavour to be brilliant.........

A country been held together by force of arms would eventually break apart, there's no two ways about it.

one boy said if he had one million dollars he would hire Russian sniper to wipe out Mr. buhari

that is the level of hate in this world now.
we live in a society that worships economic growth. we expect things to grow too, our pocket to grow. but government of the world are not providing the necessary growth, people hate their leaders, big business everything related to authority, inshort they hate anybody that is progressing wether celebrity or organized religion, we blame everyone and everything.

I pity for leaders all over the world

Said by one of the most divisive politician in the history of this country.

He is now president, he doesn't want people to destabilise him the way he destabilised others with his utterances.
