Politicians in the north are scare of Restructuring because outside Nigeria they are formless-prof Pat Utomi.

Nigerian professor of political economy, Pat Utomi has explained why he think politicians in the north are afraid of Restructuring.

Utomi who spoke at virtual media parley ahead of 'Never Again' conference to mark 51 years after civil war , noted that the north largely relies on the Federal government for their share of revenue "which has made them really unproductive".

He added that northern politicians are scare of Restructuring because they are formles outside Nigeria.

Utomi said ;

There is a real crisis in the north that the south does not understand . They are painters of people who hate each other very much; that is the truth of the matter.

That is why they are scare of Restructuring because they don't know where it will lead them, and outside Nigeria , they are formless; there is no north."

The Nigerian professor who stressed that restructuring will help the north become productive and move away from poverty status, also announced that second edition of the 'NEVER Again' conference which will feature Matthew Kukah, Bishop of Sokoto Catholic diocese as the keynote addresser and former president Olusegun Obasanjo as a the special guest of honour , will be chaired by Ayo Adebanjo Afenifere leader and Kalu Idika Kalu, a former finance minister.

Utomi Added :

It is recalled that Nigeria fought bitter and internecine 30-months civil war that left it's wake a sharply divided nation with mutual suspicion , hatred and resentment across racial and region lines.

An estimated one million victims were killed immediately, before and during the war.

The conference will X-ray the issues that lead to the civil war and need for patriots to work together to achieve National cohesion, especially in light of several centrifugal tendencies within the polity.

if they like should not adhere to this call for restructuring, but what I know is that one day they will wake up to find out there is no more Nigeria again. As Job said, that which I was afraid of has come to me. Job.3:25

"A prominent Islamic scholar, Dr Ahmad Abubakar Mahmud Gumi, has declared that Nigeria will disintegrate and that the North will suffer most compared to the other regions. According to him, in the face of a possible break up, the Southwest will be relatively stable; Southeast will be stable, but the North will be volatile...."

They will be finally forced to accept the role of western education and innovate. The land they have alone is more than any mineral that can be beneath it. Imagine Niger state alone isdouble the size of five SE state.

Nigeria has $515.543 billion and $1.215 trillion purchasing power parity. Petroleum sector contributed 8.60% to Nigeria's GDP but accounted for approximately 90% of export earnings and over 70% of total government revenues. However, Agriculture remain the major employer of labour among Nigeria's population which contribute more than 22% of the country's GDP. Nigeria ranks sixth worldwide and first in Africa in farm output. Agricultural sector accounts for about 22% of GDP and almost one-third of employment. Nigeria has more than 19 million head of cattle, the largest in Africa. Though Nigeria is no longer a major exporter, due to local consumer boom, it is still a major producer of many agricultural with trillions of naira being generated.
North still has the best job at hand. I wonder where all these predictions come from, if oil producing states are excluded from Nigerian economy only Lagos & Ogun can survive in the south and Kano in the North; and this is in govt view not citizens who already have other things doing. I don't think there is any state in Nigeria that has 100k people working for govt, so the rest are not govt dependent and have other things adding value to their life.

The rest of states are leaches and have nothing to show. There fore, considering the economic nature of the country, if the country is restructured in such away all states retain their resources and contribute little to the centre, it is obvious Northern Politicians will be adversely affected but not the masses. About 87% of Northern people are into Agriculture and it's obvious Agriculture generate more money among Nigerians than any other businesses.
We can't be hiding behind podium and finger point only one section of the country as poor while if not because of poverty I can't see why some people will desperately go into Yahoo scams in thousands, thousands are into prostitution and drug peddling instead of enjoying the excessive wealth they're claiming. If not poverty why should certain group of people be trafficking their fellow brothers to Europe for modern slavery and sex work?
More than 80% of Prostitutes in Europe are Nigerians and we know their origins, and the number of them outnumbered the combined number of almajiri they're calling in the whole nation!
Atleast the visible poverty in the north is almajiri beggers which is more cultural irrespective of the economic state of the people involved.
In any high population nations there is high tendency of sighting poor people. There are thousands of homeless people in US & govt annually budget some cash for about 5millions US citizens to alleviate their sufferings, millions of people are living below $1 in China and India and struggle for 3 square meal.
If someone somewhere will be ranting nonsense with so much ignorance about the populace then he needs to know from where the food he eats comes from? He eat meat almost on daily basis but never cared to ask its source. When common ordinary onion and tomatoes prices were excessively high they never mind to ask the genuine reason but in reality the Endsars protest and heavy downfall in the north caused it. Most raw materials they processed in their agro-allied and food processing companies are sourced from the North but the dullards instead of telling the truth about the future they keep deceiving & feeding them with lies. Average Northerner is employable in agriculture unless the lazy ones, with vast, arable, uncultivated lands the future is still bright. A bag of rice is 18k in the north but before reaching south the figure change to 28 to 30k!
North isn't afraid of restructuring but don't want to go into entity with different intention from the genuine course.
Let's restructure and see the effect it'll have on citizens not govt.
