President Muhammadu Buhari as approved the appointment of Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo as the acting Director-General (DG) of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Insidenaija reports.

This was contained in a statement issued by president Buhari Seniors Special Assistant on Media and Publicity Mallam Garba Shehu, on Monday, January 18.

According to him, the president has notified the minister of state, labour and employment, Festus Keyamo, about the approval.

The new appointment takes effect immediately.

Shehu stated that Fikpo would serve as the DD of the (NDE) pending the appointment of a substantive DG for the Agency.

He said: "Last month, the president relieved the former DG of the agency of his appointment, and directed the Minister to nominate an Acting DG to superintend over the Agency pending the appointment of a substantive DG."

This comes two days after the president Buhari appointed former military administrator of Lagos state, Brigadier General Mohammed Buba Marwa (rtd) as the new Director-General of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Marwa was until recently the chairman of the presidential committee on drug abuse.

The sacked DG, Dr. Argungu, wanted to play the normal "na we get government" which most Northern public officers usually use to intimidate non-northern colleagues and bosses. However, he misfired badly by taking sides with the Senate against Festus Keyamo who happened to be a beloved Buhari boy. Consequently, Dr. Argungu lost out in the power play and found himself out in the cold. Shit happens!
