Lagos state needs to emulate this... with all the repeated cases of flooding in Lagos, one would think they would come up with significant (specific) projects to tackle the incessant flooding.

While littering may be an issue, it is not the sole cause of flooding in Lagos. There are NO flood drains, adequately constructed canals and proper drainages, and in a state where everyone sinks borehole (due to the Lagos water corporation's failure to provide drinkable water) and abandons surface water for daily consumption, the surface water level is bound to get higher.

I hope Sanwo-Olu commits to environmental management more cos if they allow things get out of hand, Lagos would keep getting worse.

One cannot understand why Lagos is still the way it is. After the ouster of Ambode things appear to have stagnated.

It will be preposterous for Lagos to emulate this kind of small project sir.

Lagos has far more complex drainage system than this.

Some of us were alive when most of those big Engineering projects were executed and have been lucky to see them being upgraded over the years due to surging population of people who keep migrating to Lagos for greener pastures.

This is so little and can't even compare to the Luth project let alone those big ones of Island that drain into the atlantic sir.

Great one. One of the most well-utilized funds in Nigeria is the ecological fund. There must be very close marking from the world bodies behind the fund.

Where are indigenous engineers? Patronizing foreigners for common flood control is quite painful even when the government is paying lip service of reducing unemployment and empowering the people. Nigerian engineers are treated with disdain, forgetting that engineers are the engine drive for growth and prosperity of any advanced nation.

Idi Araba is not the only place where such needs to be done. With the population of Lagos state, if you say what's on ground is enough then you simply don't care about what is going on...

Do we have Civil Engineers and indigenous Civil Engineering companies in Nigeria? All I keep seeing are foreign construction workers and companies being awarded government contracts...and we are complaining of high unemployment rate in the country.
