The Old Government Reserved Area is a neighborhood of the city of Port Harcourt, Rivers State in Nigeria. It was primarily inhabited by European settlers during colonial times and was then referred to as the European quarters.

Geography
As a mixed-use area, Old GRA combines residential, recreational and business uses. The neighborhood is bordered to the east by Abuloma, to the north by the D-line neighborhood, to the west by Diobu and Kidney Island and to the south by Borokiri.[7] It comprises the land covered by the Zip code 500241.[8]

You never still change this your 1960 camera.

This is how a GRA (esp' the old or first one in a city) should look like: quality, clean and well swept inner roads; sidewalks; massive amount of trees (looking at some of those trees you can see they really look old); and low amount of traffic and serene atmosphere.

Our state gov'ts in the south-east need to look at this and try to replicate this in our major cities. The only old GRAs that come close to this in the south-east are the ones in Enugu and Onitsha. Enugu would have been just as good as this, but the present Governor of the state and his team are near useless in maintaining the little they met on ground when they took over in 2015. The roads in old Enugu GRA are ridden with potholes, unswept and a lot of the trees have been allowed to be cut down so the place doesn't stand out in its greenery and serenity like it did in the 80s. I remember Park Lane had a canopy of trees covering the road almost from Ekulu Primary School right down to Park Lane General Hospital, and the lane was full of those old lovely colonial houses, full of character and history! Most of that has changed now.

A trip to Abakaliki GRA and Golf Course.

Their GRA is ok, but the state gov't should make the roads pristine and clean as i'm sure they can, and also plant more trees.
