The issue now is. The child dedication would been in 7 days time but the lady discussed it with her Pastor, he made her to know she can't still do the dedication in their because she's not legally married but she could come do just THANKSGIVING.

The church is not 'throwing away the baby with the bathwater'.
It is not saying the church will not accept you again but you will lose some rights eg having the dedication ceremony during the church service.

I do know that sometimes it seems churches can be very stiff but honestly I don't blame them. These things set a bad precedence for others coming up. Of course you are forgiven but there are consequences for every action .

Most churches I know will name the child but it won't be announced on the altar that sis and bro xyz were blessed with a baby,but the child will be properly named because they will say the child is innocent its the parents that will be dealt with.
That's their own way of disciplining the parents,

I once read a thread where a lady said her church said she can't have open dedication because she's was not married but the baby will be dedicated in the pastors office. Different churches with different systems in place.

In my church if you are planning wedding you guys have slept together you will most likely suspend the courtship for some months, ask God for forgiveness , you will go for deliverance sef, even reevaluate the relationship.


The truth of the matter is fornication is so rampant nowadays,people can't delay gratification and I wonder why but there are those who still keep to it.

The church is not to blame, the individuals that broke/disobeyed Gods instruction are to blame but people keep blaming the church instead of keeping to simple rules.

The parents should name their child....and attend another church

Funny peeps! What's wrong with naming the child yourself and dedicating him to God in your home? If it must happen in church then change church....issue easily resolved.

my dear not everybody believe in marriage. Same way not everybody believe in the Church and the near nonsense and hypocrisy they stand for.

In the world today, the laws of the church doesn't stand absolute, so, in line with that not everybody relates with their laws. Even church goers too can't relate with the laws of the church.

Must they go to church to have their kid named? Sometimes I wonder why it's hard, for many people to give a very big middle finger, to the age old norms guiding our society.
