Doing things right in an environment like ours is more difficult than anything you can think of. Jega needs to be strong, I still respect the man. |

I know some people will still prefer IWU, who would hav gone ahead with the election and come back the second day and will anounce fabricated result with respect to his PDP allies. Kudos to JEGA. The problem now are some of the so called State RECs and Local RECs. GOD BLESS NIGERIA. |

Lolabbey: Everyone that believes in him should just support him with prayers. Our politicians are ever ready to frustrate your effort no matter how much you try. Jega is a good man and I believe he will not yield to their pressures at this point. |

Those who are feeling pity for Jega or commending him for been real or transparent have it all wrong, infact its the opposite like (a) Concealing material facts (b) Publicity hugging (seem more on TV than elsewhere) (c) Unlearned (d)Showboating (e) I dont care attitude Jega went before NCS & FEC on Wednesday to say INEC was ready when he knew materials had not arrived. Jega had a press conference on Friday 1st of April & declared that INEC was ready He lacks the managerial & administrative capacity to handle such a task. Organising elections in Nigeria is a Humongous Logistics nightmare & i say he is Unlearned because there were lessons from the challenges; failures & success of the registration exercise that he did not learn from and apply this time around. Nothing was learnt from Delta rerun of January becos the process of voting at the polling centre is cumbersome. On being accredited, why couldnt we be given our voters card and go & vote immediately and have the right hand thumb nai printed in orange? Lack of Stakeholder analysis and stakeholder management Lack of awareness of impact of postponement to the economy I dont care attitude because practically every polling both had some many people who couldnt find their names during accreditation but as far as INEC was concerned, we told you to come and cross check your names after registration, you didnt, so is it our business?? Once INEC noticed that names of those who registered vastly varies from their accreditation list, they shld have carried out an awareness campaign for people to come for verification |

Kobojunkie: Don't you know politicians were the ones that chose his printing contractor for him, or that politicians also caused the Japan earthquake that Jega claims affected the delivery of materials? Don't you know that it was the politicians that told Jega to accept to hold elections on Saturday when by Thursday he wasn't sure of the arrival date of ballot papers and result sheets? |
Re: Jega Offers To Resign, Jonathan Rejects; Resignation Amounts To Treason – Agf by monkeyleg: 3:10pm On Apr 04, 2011 |
I beg to differ. If the man wants to go, he should be allowed to. I cannot accept that an institution as large as INEC does not have a capable Deputy lead who can step in with the necessary support and get things done. This is why as a nation and a people, our institutions must be run differently. A single person should not be allowed to hold a nation to ransom, if we have effective institutions, it doesnt matter if Jega wants to go. At least he has tried by admitting say the thing pass am. |

We should have allowed a foreign nation or international organization to conduct our election, because it would seem that Nigeria does not have the capabilities of doing so. . . |
Re: Jega Offers To Resign, Jonathan Rejects; Resignation Amounts To Treason – Agf by HamidO1(m): 3:23pm On Apr 04, 2011 |
debosky: Sounds funny to you right What really are INEC's logistic problems? What stops us from having sensitive materials in Nigeria some days before election? The simple answer is the inability of our security agencies to guarantee the safety of such materials. That's a failure on the part of government. We have the Nigeria Security Printing and Minting Company (whatever) that can hardly meet it's obligations in other sectors talk less of producing coded ballot papers; another failure on the part of government. The bottom line is that Jega is working under a very difficult situation. A Maurice Iwu would definately have announced results despite elections not holding in several places. Let's give the guy a chance and come out to vote instead of just criticizing all the time |

I understand the kind of Jega's thoughts-uhnm! what if Mr President failed this election after all this papering-it mins i'm dead-so i beter run and escape being handled over to MENDS for execution Jega i smell something like that too-so you beter carry ur sacks and fly to the coast |
Re: Jega Offers To Resign, Jonathan Rejects; Resignation Amounts To Treason – Agf by Demdem(m): 3:28pm On Apr 04, 2011 |
i really feel sorry for JEGA. he is helpless. the system is faulty and is bound to fail no matter how sincere he is. Believe me, the most difficult job to accept in the world right now is Nigeria INEC chairmanship. I doubt if anyone can suceed under this present system. late Yaradua recognised this and admitted. Promised us Electoral reform before the next elction. we all should be asking why did the govt not do anything about the Uwais report. it was such a comprehensive report. Under this present system, i doubt if any free and fair elections can be carried in Nigeria. its sad no doubt. |

@Guk, I totally agree with you. You are right 100%, but the Nigerian way is to make excuses for everything. The signs where written clearly on the wall, when he conducted the voters registeration, then came the Delta state re-run, now this, and I wonder why people are surprised. Jega may be a good man, but the task at hand is way beyond him |
Re: Jega Offers To Resign, Jonathan Rejects; Resignation Amounts To Treason – Agf by monkeyleg: 3:33pm On Apr 04, 2011 |
Demdem: My brother, I do not accept your line of thought. Jega had vast amount of money at his disposal, and ultimate authority to run things properly @ INEC. A good manager would use such resources at his disposal to acquire the best people to do the job. He simply didnt understand that basic management 101 concept |

Kobojunkie: When you finish ROFLMAO let me know. Several people in Nigeria traveled far just to cast their votes in their different localities. What did you do?? Corps members risked their lives despite inadequate security just to conduct the elections. I wonder what your contributions were?? The easiest thing to do is post 20,000 views on NL with no practical attempt to solve our problems. Shioooo |

Re: Jega Offers To Resign, Jonathan Rejects; Resignation Amounts To Treason – Agf by londoner: 3:39pm On Apr 04, 2011 |
If this is true, then he is a little irresponsible. You dont offer to resign when you have not even conducted an election. Who does he think will replace him and what chance does he think that person will have of adequately conducting an election at this eleventh hour? He MUST stay and do the best he can, he can resign afterwards. I think he made the best decision to postpone the election though, rather than allow people to vote and later declare the election annuled. It is good to see that he knows he failed in one important aspect of discharging his duties, but he must embrace the responsibility of delivering a fair and free election (to an extent), running away is not an option for him and he should know that. |

Sincerely, Lets not put all the blame on JEGA, it seems we are not seeing what we are suppose 2 c. When d guy was giving speech, he was shaking seriously. He offered to resign, but GEJ refused. Maybe something is wrong somewhere and he choose 2 postpone d election 2 save his head. The guy might be under fire. Look beyond d cancellation if y'all know what i mean. Jega's greed is not his worst nightmare. |

^^^ His fears are the big containers filled with fake ballot papers allegedly found in the houses of some prominent traditional rulers. The RECs already bought by incumbent governors and senators in most state. There are several angles to this. Naija is the most complex place on this planet. |

monkeyleg: Well, its allowed however like i said in another thread, the problems noticed on saturday went beyond the logistics issue he was facing in ABUJA. the system is faulty and no amount of money can position it well if the fundamentals arent in place which the Uwais report critically addressed. ok, what is the difference between Iwu's Inec and Jega's Inec? What has really changed? To butress this reasoning of mine, here was what i posted elsewhere To those of us who went out on saturday knew that the problems of INEC is more than the logistic issue JEGA is facing in ABUJA. on the ground, peeps names were missing, logos of a party was absent in place like Gombe, a friend of mine in lagos claimed he saw ACN logo (the broom) on two parties (please can someone confirmed this if true). I personnally was disenfranchised. i registered in rumuodara PH but my name wasnt found at the polling unit. I read it in the dailies today that the REC of cross rivers was thankfull to God that the election was postponed because the whole exercise would have been fraudulent having noticed that some INEC officials have compromised etc. The problem was obviously more than logistics. |
