Moderna's Coronavirus Vaccine Might Be Able To Stop The New Coronavirus Variant by dumziee(m): 2:07pm On Jan 27, 2021
About 6 million people in the UK have already received the first dose of either the Pfizer or the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Laboratory tests carried out by scientists from the United State of America pharmaceutical company suggest that antibodies triggered by the Moderna vaccine can recognize and fight the new variants of the coronavirus. More studies are required to confirm if it’s true for people who have been vaccinated.

The new variants have been spreading rapidly in several of nations. The coronavirus has gone through changes or mutations, this implies they can infect human cells faster than the original version of coronavirus

Although the Moderna vaccines were made for earlier variants, scientists believe they should still work against the new strain, maybe not quite as well.

In the course of the Moderna study, researchers looked at blood samples gotten from about eight(cool people who had received the recommended two(2) doses of the vaccine. The results are yet to be peer-reviewed, but it suggests immunity from the vaccine because it recognizes the new coronavirus strain.

Neutralizing antibodies, made by the body's immune system also prevents the virus from entering cells. Blood samples exposed to the new strain seemed to have enough antibodies to achieve this neutralizing effect, although it was not strong for the South Africa strain as it was for the United Kingdom strain. Moderna says this could mean that protection against the South Africa strain might fade more quickly.
