"and he said who art thou lord ? and the lord said , i am Jesus whom thou persecutest; it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. "acts 9:5

it was such an ambiguity when paul thought that he was working for the lord ,by persecuting the christians , yet he was working against the lord .when the lord finally appeared to him , he asked 'who art thou lord '. this is because he didn't know the lord for real . he probably knew the laws of moses , but had no knowledge of who jesus was.

just like many of us today , we might know the scriptures ( or the law) yet have no personal knowledge or relationship with our lord jesus christ . it is imperative that we should know who jesus christ is and have a personal knowledge of christ . jesus had alot of disciples following him, yet they didn't know him.

one eday jesus asked them "but whom say ye that i am ?" matthew 16:15 . that is a question that every disciple should have known, but they didn't know . however , the revelation of God came to peter .and he answered " thou art the christ , the son of the living God . and jesus answered and said unto him , blessed art thou , simon barjona : for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee , but my father which is in heaven " matthew 16:16-17

it takes a revelation of God , for some one to really know and believe that jesus : is the christ , the messiah , the saviour and to acknowledge christ as his or her lord forever. without a personal revelation of God to you , as a child of God , you will never know your relationship with the lord . the extent to which you have to live your life , because you are related to christ jesus forever.

it takes a spiritual enlightenment to know the lord personally and to have fellowship with christ intimately . ephesians 1:17-18 declares "that the God of our lord jesus christ , the father of glory , may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him . the eyes of your understanding being enlightened , that ye may know what is the hope of his calling , and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints ."
this is a prayer for the christian to be enlightened to know the lord personally ,relate with Christ intimately and obey the word of God solidly .
