3 Sports Cars European Companies Wish They Never Made by Nicemedia: 3:13pm On Jan 29, 2021
We' ve seen a host of disastrous sports cars over the years, and it seems European companies are particularly prone to making brand- breaking models.

Whenever a company releases a new sports car, it' s always a gamble whether it' s liked by the public or not. Some cars manage to sell well despite having issues, and some just never take off despite being technically good. There are a few models out there, though, that have done more than just sold badly or been a bit forgettable.

Sometimes, automakers get a car so wrong that it affects their brand for years to come. There' s been a whole host of disastrous sports cars over the years, but it seems European companies are particularly prone to making brand- breaking models. From cars that rusted into nothing to cars that nobody bought, here are ten of the worst sports cars that Euro manufacturers wish they never made.

3. Smart Roadster

Despite the fact that a sports car from a microcar company is an unusual concept to begin with, the car sold fairly well. However, an exceptionally high number of repairs under warranty resulted in production stopping in 2005.

It was reported that the average value of this warranty work was over $3, 000, and while it was little more than an inconvenience to owners, the extra costs wiped out Smart' s profits. As a result, production was never resumed and the Roadster was canceled.

2. Porsche Carrera GT

The Carrera GT wasn' t a bad car, but there' s a number of issues with it that have caused Porsche a PR nightmare. When the car was released, it received mixed reviews, with some reviewers even saying it felt like Porsche didn' t care much when making it.

Reviewers attacked its handling, saying it felt unpredictable and even dangerous to drive. The second big PR issue for Porsche was the death of Paul Walker, who was driving a Carrera GT when he fatally crashed. It gave the Carrera GT' s critics even more reason to claim that the car was unsafe and has stained the model' s reputation ever since.

1. Bristol Fighter

Boutique British company Bristol had been making luxury sports cars for decades, but their designs were dated and only appealed to a niche audience. Their sales were middling, so in 2004 they released the Fighter in an attempt to revitalize their brand.

Sporting a V10 engine from a Viper that could produce 628 hp in the Fighter S version, it packed a punch unlike any Bristol before it. Unfortunately, it was a sales catastrophe, with Bristol managing to make anywhere between 9 and 14 examples (there' s a debate over the exact number) during the course of the model' s 7- year production run. The Fighter was the final nail in the coffin for the company, which was liquidated after production of the Fighter shut down.,
