It's not all bed of roses studying overseas for Africans, especially Nigerians. We face different forms of racism in one way or the other. Nigerian students studying overseas lets please feel free to share the various forms of racism we have faced.

I am based in China and on so many occasions, some Chinese would rather prefer to stand than to sit next to an African on a public bus. The most annoying thing is that they worship Europeans and Americans.

On the metro, too! Covid has exacerbated the ugly trend you mentioned. These days some Chinese folks would quickly put on their masks on sighting a foreigner especially a black one. Thing is racism (covert or subtle) exists in every country; growing a tough skin and feigning indifference are two ways of managing racism.

Here in Nigeria, if I see a white man/woman, no matter the urge to look at them I make sure my gaze doesn't pass once. The annoying thing you will see is most Nigerian looking at them till they feel the importance.

We might never be free from it until we develop our country.

I don't even know where to start. Well, I've had to teach kids of 2-11yrs old and you see some of them covering their nose when you get close to them based on what their parents told them about black or they touch you and try to sniff the hand to know if one is smelling bad.
I remember I was on the bus and a mother was telling her 3yr old son in her language that I'm bad he shouldn't try to touch me.
When you get to a gadget store and try to get price for something, some would say to their colleagues they can't afford it so just tell them something

Recently, my gal told me her place of work organized an excursion for all the staff of about 200. She felt reluctant about it because she happens to be the only foreigner(black) there but for the fun of it and experience she decided to include her name when some of her close pals kept asking if she was gonna go with them. Night before the D-day, she got a message that because of the pandemic, she wouldn't be able to go with them (just her alone). She had to cry because it pained her badly.

Firstly, There are some customers especially tourists you mustn't near them to make customer service to them, they will try to be moving away from you as a black African, some will even be like crying but if it is their Indians and co no problem
Second was after some few days to week am working in the company. One of the Indian colleague and other started calling me "Kalla" and later added "Kuta" to it. I always vex for them because i dont know the meaning in which i told asked them to call me by my name. All efforts I make to know the meaning none of them tell me b4 I later know that "Kalla" means "Black" while "Kuta" means "Dog" meaning "Black Dog", so i quickly change it for him and fought him. Although they later play with me with it but not every time which I also reply or call them "Geri Kuta" meaning "White Dog" and some of their other abusive words.
Another one is always for either Philippine or Nepale ladies, either u are living in same building and u want to use the lift at the same time or the lift inside the metro station or anywhere, because u are black some of them will not enter with you. They will rather let you go first even if u met them on stand. They may even come out for you to go alone.
