Job Title: Graduate Intern - Technical Safety Engineer

Purpose: This is a 1-year developmental programme designed to equip exceptional fresh graduates with intense hands-on experience and the right technical skill sets as the foundation of their professional lives. The successful candidate will receive regular coaching and mentoring required to complete assignments and projects in order to develop the necessary learning and skill sets.

Job Description
• Assist in carrying out safety engineering and risk assessment (and legislative compliance) studies including fire, explosion, smoke and gas dispersion modelling, and QRA.
• Scribe in formal safety reviews, and in some cases actively contribute to HAZID, Bowties, ENVID, HAZOP, SIL studies etc. in order to facilitate and ensure any gaps are addressed.
• Provide support to project and operational teams on the risk mitigation measures required for operational and integrity-related Technical / Process Safety projects.
• Support in the development of proprietary software products and solutions including REVaRS, ReSTeRS.
• Maintain database of relevant new / emerging regulations and support any consultation processes and other databases as may be assigned.
• Support the development of Melios major accident and incident database.
• Undertake detailed analysis of database to generate factual information that can be published on website and used in enhancing study delivery.
• Assist in the development of technical proposals and CTR estimates.
• Promote company services externally through presentations, workshops, seminars etc., to enhance Melios reputation.
• Deliver quality, cost effective and timely engineering support within short interval planning and conflicting priorities.
• Identify and propose new opportunities and areas of improvement within Melios processes and services.
• Undertake weekly review of company website and ensure news that promote business are published regularly.
• Undertake daily visit to company approved news and current affairs webpages to identify business relevant news items including safety related incidents and accidents.
• Perform any other tasks relevant to business and departmental goals as directed by management.


Qualifications
• HND/B.Eng. in any Engineering or Physical Science (Mathematics, Physics, Analytical Chemistry) discipline with First Class/ Distinction or a minimum of Second Class Upper / Upper Credit.
• All applicants must possess an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
