Akwa Ibom is a state in Nigeria which is located at the coastal southern or south-eastern part of the coubtry; lying between latitudes 4°321 and 5°331 North, and longitudes 7°251 and 8°251 East with it's capital city as Uyo. It came into existence on the 23rd of September 1987 by the Federal Military Government under General lbrahim Babangida, out of Cross River State. The state is populated with over 5 million people and over 10 million in dispersion. Akwa Ibom is currently the highest oil- and gas-producing state in the country. The inhabitants of the state are: Ibibio, Annang, Ibeno and Eket. The Ibibio are the largest group, whilst the Annang, which form the second largest group, speak a language very similar to the Ibibio Language. Ibeno and Eket speak a similar language, and are located at the ocean. The Ibibio language belongs to the Benue-Congo language family, which forms part of the Niger-Congo group of languages.


Akwa Ibom- ‘Land Of Promise’ as often referred is located in the south-south geopolitical zone of Nigeria and was created in 1987. The state belongs to one the oil producing states of the Niger Delta, and it has a population of about 3,920,208 and a land area of 6,900 Sq km. With an ocean front which spans a distance of 129 kilometers from Ikot Abasi in the west to Oron in the east, Akwa Ibom presents a picture of captivating coastal, mangrove forest, beautiful sand beach resorts, and other interesting places one can visit. Ibeno Beach stretches for about 30 kilometers from Ibeno to James Town along the Atlantic coastline of Akwa Ibom State in Nigeria. The Ibeno Beach is one of the beaches on the Atlantic Ocean along the shorelines of Ibeno. It is the longest sand beach in West Africa

Ibeno was the landing site for one of the most successful christian missions in Nigeria - the Qua Iboe christian mission from Scotland which arrived in the early 20th century. Relics of that missionary expedition also attract tourists to the area. In 2013, the federal government constructed the Ibeno bridge to attract tourists and improve other economic activities in the area.

The beach itself is a must see as it is the longest beach in Africa.

The beach has a bridge which was built by the federal government.With its beautiful coastline, Ibeno provides endless natural facilities for tourist, such as; Boat Riding, Canoeing,Water sport, Volley ball, Beach soccer, Archery, Sun bathing etc.

The whole stretch of Ibeno Beach is creatively and beautifully decorated for the enjoyment of the local people as well as the tourists.

Adding to the natural beauty is a scenic coastline along with the natural white sand, which, to be honest, words cannot do justice to. Mere words cannot do justice while describing the beauty of the beach.

The beach is often patronised by visitors from southeastern, south south and north central part of Nigeria who desire to take time off their schedules and relax at Ibeno beach. The Beach Is Mostly Fun In Dry Season.I Also Heard It Has The Highest Number Of Ghanaian Fishermen In Nigeria.
I Was Here Some Time Ago I Could't Believe This People Caught A Dolphin,first Time Of Me Seeing That Fish Off Natgeo Wild!.

I can almost feel the serenity of this atmosphere from the pics. Akwa ibom and most southern states are good tourism site if well harnessed by the govt and the insecurities in the country is well taken care of, oyibos will be trooping in here for tourism.

Nigeria is a blessed country but one cannot even explore it because the roads are so bad and they are not safe. Tommorow they will collect estacode saying they are leading delegation abroad looking to develop Tourism sector. Same way as they talk about agric when the farms are not safe!! who will invest?
