The Amotekun corps reportedly stopped the men, who were loaded in a truck, and a quick search revealed some bows, arrows and daggers in the vehicle.

Men of Oyo State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun, have intercepted a truck loaded with no fewer than 80 men suspected to be Fulani herdsmen at the Iwo Road area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The Amotekun corps reportedly stopped the men, who were loaded in a truck, and a quick search revealed some bows, arrows and daggers in the vehicle.

Apart from that, sources told Punch that about 25 motorcycles in the truck also had cows.

Upon interrogation, the men were reported to have told the Amotekun operatives that they were going to Lagos and Ogun States.

The search was said to have attracted residents who trooped to the scene, but to avoid crisis, the security agents were said to have led the truck and its occupants to the police station at Testing Ground area in Iwo Road.

They were said to have been handed over to the police at the station for further interrogation and search.

The Commandant of Amotekun in Oyo State, Col. Olayinka Olayanju (retd.), when contacted confirmed the incident to our correspondent.

He said, “We arrested about 80 men in a truck. We found some bows and arrows and knives in the truck. They also had some cows and motorcycles there.

“We couldn’t carry out a thorough search because we had started attracting attention, so we moved them to the police station nearby.”

The Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State, Mr Olugbenga Fadeyi, also confirmed the incident to our correspondent on the telephone.

He said, “Some persons were intercepted, and they were taken to Agodi Police Station where they were profiled. They said they were coming from Wudil in Kano and were going to Lagos and some to Ogun State. They said they were taking the cows to the abattoir in Agege, Lagos.

“We didn’t find anything incriminating on them. They were released and escorted to the Toll Gate area on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. They are no longer in Oyo State territory.”

I thought you guys used to argue vociferously here that all Nigerians have the duty and freedom to move from one place to the other without fear and that ESN is "heating up the polity" with their anti herdsmen activities... Are fulanis no more Nigerians? You South West APC adherents always advise that folks should report to the police and follow the courts... What gives..? All you guys needed to do was to follow your advice by allowing the fulani herdsmen to travel to wherever they were heading to in the south west, then you can go and report to the police and take action in the court, even if the killer herdsmen are on rampage! Are you guys no more worried about "reprisals"?

The final epic battle between the rebellious Afonja and treacherous Alimi is on. This time, not for peripheral Ilorin but Oduduwa heartland, the great Oyo empire. I know who I've got my money on.

A quick poll:

Like, if you think Afonja will prevail
Share, if you think Oduduwaland is finished
Like, if you think Oduduwa people will get their acts together and confront the misanthrope Fulani
Share, if you think their pusillanimity (fear... fear) will be their undoing

Alimi and Afonja never fought eachother in an open battle.

Afonja was killed in a palace coup.

Wasn't suggesting there was an open battle between them my friend. I know the history well enough. That is why you read the adjectives Rebellious Afonja and Treacherous Alimi. That should tell you that I know the history perhaps more than you do. Furthermore, you should understand the metaphorical sense. Which is that the quest to conquer the Yoruba by Fulani is ongoing. It was temporarily halted, first by the Oyo Army, courtesy of European guns. This time, the Fulani are privy to the power of the guns that stopped them in 19th Century. The question is, will Oduduwa's children be sitting ducks this time?

@ emboldened clearly shows you don't know what you are talking about.

Which stupid European guns helped the Ibadan warriors who destroyed Fulanis in Osogbo.

like I told you earlier, go and read history.

You are chating with one of the great grand children of those that defeated the Fulanis in Osogbo.

Really? There were no European guns in the battle that stopped Fulani advance? Please prove that to me. I'm open to be taught.

The Fulani had better Guns because of trans Sahara trade which much older than the Trans Atlantic trade which is came much later.

They lost because their horses were useless in the forest against Ibadan mainly gorilla fighters.
