your feeding and vaccination are ok. can you upload picture? what is the average weight so we can understand what you mean by not growing.

Re: Starting A Poultry Farm (a Blog) by jamp: 7:50am On Jun 29, 2015
@Theonlyson

your birds are not sick judging from the picture. what you are seeing around the neck is the crop. the problem(stunted growth as you said) might be the breed.
where did you get them from?

i have not really done broilers to confirm if the size is ok for their age.

fellow farmers please confirm if the size is ok for the age.

Thoenlyson your birds are looking OK for a 3 week old broiler. You can add soya n enzymes to the feed u are giving them Incase u are not OK with what u are seeing. Jump, eggcellent, Kelvin, David n all the gurus in the house. My birds eyes are still foamy n getting worse. Done all that my vet ask me to do. I think he is out of ideas too. Is there any home remedies or eye drop I can get for them. I'm really confused on what to do next.

judithume. I believe your birds have Infectious Coryza. I'll suggest you treat them with Neoceryl. Then inject them with Oxy L.A. (1 ml each) about 3 times leaving an interval of a week in-between. Don't forget to give them vitamin. The Coryza will clear-off in a while. Start the treatment early. Otherwise, the medications won't be effective. Success.

In as much as you can not go yourself, then you can not cut the middle men. because whoever get it to you is still a middle man. You can insist on the supplier of your choice and let them get from there.

Most likely a double-yolked egg. A common feature with birds just coming into lay...

Hello All
I am offering sale 300 Point of Lay at my Ibadan farm, I am selling because of space constraint, I raized 1000 pullets from day old now they are 17weeks already singing laying song and I am not through with my permanent pein ,hence I want to manage the space I use in raising them and reduce the number by selling some, healthy and completely vaccinated.

@Afosoft, so happy for you. I guess your birds are not doing badly.
Our birds are 26wks tomorrow and doing 35%. Its our first time and we got them as 16wks POL. The batch is 3,264 but we have 3,240 left.
We refused to be discouraged and believe everything would be okay.

Congrats @segun1976, I raised this birds from day old 3000. I think you should feed them well well... atleast 120g/birds. You have not nothing to worry since the production is increasing greatly.

Thanks for the continuous words of encouragement.
@Jamp, I'm impressed you really following our progress. God bless.
@Afosoft, would increase the feed ASAP. Was just worried because the Vet said they have excess fat and we only recently changed to layer mash. Like how much do you sell these "new eggs" ( I know it's location-dependent)?

I'm eager for the birds to ttain daily break-even (start feeding themselves).

I am back again and with good news.

latest update is that my chickens are 13weeks and in less than a month, we should have our 1st crate of eggs. I am however delaying it to ensure they are very well ready to start laying the golden eggs.

We have started putting crates together to accommodate the eggs. buyers for the eggs cant wait for the chickens to start laying. In-fact one of my customers has offered to pay in advance.

My only challenge remains the feeding. This chickens are really eating the thing and that brings me the the decision of starting a feed-mill to both feed them and also sell to the public.

I hope I will get your patronages when our branded Feeds hit the market. I will keep you posted when the names come out from CAC.

Lets keep this post alive!.

I really cant wait to start posting pictures of EGGS instead of HENS grin

Good day Sir.
I believe you have achieved the above mentioned; Feed production & company name registration.
Sent you a mail. Pls reply
Re: Starting A Poultry Farm (a Blog) by Eggcelent(m): 9:59am On Jul 01, 2015
judithume. That is a great piece of news. You must understand that laying birds are extremely "selfish" creatures; they need to be well satisfied before they give you the eggs you desire from them. Therefore, I'll suggest you continue to feed them well, give them vitamin & photostimulate. The eggs will not only increase, but also get bigger. Success. Happy New Month All.

@segun1976, we started selling pullet size 350, 400, 450 depending on the size now we are selling 500, and 650. size determine the price.

Glad to see that the birds are doing just fine. you need to apply caution increasing the egg size. However. you may consider photo stimulating them for the egg no increase.whatever vitamins u are using for now.don't use more than 80% of the recommended dosages to avoid prolapse.
