In recent times there has been cases of collapse structures or buildings in the  metropolitan areas of the Nation particularly the FCT and Lagos respectively.
Some of these buildings are structures under construction, while others are tenanted buildings that have been in existence for many years. The cases of collapse buildings is drawing attention from stakeholders and industry watchers considering the huge loss of lives and properties of the victims of collapse buildings.

  Industry watchers have argued that the recurrent cases of collapse buildings may continue unless drastic measures are taken to stop the menace. There are either no proper policy guidelines or non enforcement of such existing policies to all cadres of property development.for most building projects springing up in the nook and crannies of our cities, due processes are not followed in obtaining building plan approval.

A lot of standard construction ethics are swept under the carpet, several unqualified builders or engineers are handling various projects, there are minimal or no checks to all of these unprofessionalism in the industry. Aspiring home or property owners who have money to start building projects do not know what to demand from the company that will carry out the design and construction of his building project, with respect to enabling policy document that certifies the engineering company to practise such as company registration, profile of her professional staff and proves of previous successfully delivered building projects.

Much is left to doubt as to the competence level of project handlers. Whereas the building industry is supposed to be strictly controlled by standards, professional ethics and code of conduct.

It is when all of relevant regulatory bodies and concerned stakeholders put  all arms  on deck to check these menace that collapse building cases which is fast becoming a synonymous with our society will be a thing of the past.
