No Cattle Rustling In South -disarm Herdsmen Immediately by Nobody: 4:55pm On Feb 15, 2021 |
According to Bauchi State Goveenor, Bala Mohammed, cattle rustling led to herdsmen bearing arms, especially AK47 for self defence. First off, it smacks off lawlessness to allow ordinary civilians bear arm in a nation and you expect peace. There is no law that backs such. Funny enough, we have lawmakers from the South at the NASS who do not as much as mention such. They see it as no issue. My question then is do we now allow traders to bear AK47 in their shops to protect themselves from armed robbers? Should farmers also bear arm to protect their farm and crops from being vandalised? Or should bankers now bear arms to stop bank robberies? It is high time ALL herdsmen are disarmed across Nigeria, otherwise, let everyone bear arms to protect themselves. That said, I have never heard of cattle rustling down South. It may happen up North, but not in the South. The south has her own share of criminality, but certainly not cattle rustling. So, to start with, if this government is serious about adressing the issue of insecurity let them disarm herdsmen immediately and crimimalise the bearing of arms by none other than security agencies. Secondly, why is it that it is only in Nigeria that herdsmen are still roaming about? Why are we not ready to improve as a nation? The rest of the world is moving to mechanised farming, ranching, etc. Why are we stuck to the same practices of 17th century in 21st century? Why is our government this archaic Who cursed Africa for heaven's sake? I have read the arguement about cattle routes, etc. For heaven's sake this is 2021 and not 1970. Why are we so backward in Nigeria? The north is being taken over by desertification, what are the governors doing? How many trees have the 19 northern governors planted in the last 30 years? What is our problems in Nigeria please? What? Take Sambisa Forest, I understand is about 518 square kilometer can take up to 128000 acres of forest. What is the total cattle we rear in Nigeria that Sambisa forest cannot accommodate? With just about 14 million estimated cattle pppulation, Fulani herdsmen have no need roaming the south carrying arms. The problem is our leaders who have ZERO vision. Our NASS is just not useful in Nigeria. Governors are bereft of ideas and the ptesidency, I cannot just comment on that. Please, fellow Nigerians let us beg our NASS to first criminalise anyone from bearing arms in our forest. All the votes for RUGA or whatever should be channeled to make sambisa forest a mega game reserve for cattle and any other animal husbandry. I served in the North. From Jos to Bauchi is a big savannah. What is wrong with Northern governors pursuing aforestation? Who did this to us? |

The North need to wake up. Nigeria is not working due to the laggard nature of Northern Nigeria. Boko Haram ... Bandits ... Herdsmen ... Yet these people hang on to power and destroying everything. |
