A fire outbreak at the special security post close to the entrance at INEC headquarters in Abuja momentarily disrupted the commission's vastly boosted security arrangements today.



However, shortly after about twenty fully armed policemen started running around and shouting instructions, the fire was put out.



"It suddenly started from the high tension electrical fuse mounted on the wall around 2pm but thank God, it has been put out though you can still smell burnt cables. The power source has been switched off and we hope that reporters will not misinterpret the fire caused by wire breach as an attempted sabotage," a plainclothes security staff told The Nation.
