A Niger Delta militant group, ‘The Supreme Egbesu Liberation Fighters’, has threatened to launch attacks in major cities. The militants said they would target infrastructure in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja and commercial hub, Lagos. The threat was issued in a video posted on Tuesday by Africa Independent Television (AIT). It showed a number of men dressed in military uniform with covered faces. They danced around and brandished rifles. The group accused the federal government of marginalising the South-South region. It also condemned the amnesty programme. The militants lamented that oil-producing states had no schools, no potable water, no light, no hospital and access roads. They decried the state of the Ogoni clean-up project, adding that government places politics above the people. The militants demanded resource control for the South-South, the same way the federal government allowed Zamfara to control gold mining. “The Nigerian government over the years has decided to handle the issues of the Niger Delta with kid gloves. They have betrayed the struggle and have left the people to their fate. “Rather, what is visible is the presence of military gunboat and the numerous military personnel dispersed to the Niger Delta, who are killing, raping, and maiming the innocent people of the region”, one of the militants read from a paper. https://dailypost.ng/2021/02/23/breaking-niger-delta-militants-threaten-to-attack-abuja-lagos-video/ |

What kind of fuckery is this? Why would any reasonable person from the south south condemn the amnesty program that has ensured peace in the region? If they don’t want amnesty, what else do they want? How can anybody even be talking of marginalizing the south south when the immediate past president of Nigeria is from the south south. If you guys have no schools, water, light and hospitals, hold your governors and other leaders responsible. Lagos is not why you’re having developmental issues. Leave Lagos out of your madness. The report of how NDDC and Niger Delta ministry squandered billions of Naira meant for South south development is in the open. Your governors are the richest in Nigeria. Wike has been wasting Rivers state money on PDP and promoting Sokoto and Tambuwal’s political ambition. Go and attack PH. Go and meet Pondei and your other leaders and break their heads. Stop threatening other Nigerians. 8 Likes 2 Shares |

There are national infrastructures and assets scattered all over South South thatx they can easily destroy if they truly want to go down that route. We have seaports, Refinaries, goverment offices, Prisons and Airports all which are National asset they can easily destroy in the South South. Lagos is no longer the capital of Nigeria and it doesn't enjoy any special status under the Nigeria constitution. Any attempt to destroy Lagos will be seen as an ethnic vendetta against the Economy of South West Nigeria and nothing More. 5 Likes |

limeta:That's the more reason why they should strike in the South South region. It Will still have federal government on their knees. No one within the South west is directly affected by Ogoni clean up issue. Hence, they should target the federal government infrastructures within the region where they feel the pinch the most. You don't see Texans planing to take out goverment installations in New York state or Florida because of the domestic power supply problems in Texas. 1 Like |
