A large number of Carpenters in Nigeria are faced with a very difficult situation of insecurity. They have to work in remote areas which are not reached by any form of public transport or road transport which makes it impossible for them to earn their monthly salary. The main reason for the shortage of work is the lack of proper infrastructure and also poverty. In Lagos state, there are areas where the population is very poor so the carpenters are unable to find jobs. However, if they had good contacts with authorities or if they had connections at the top level, they could easily get a job. But with the advent of social networking websites, these opportunities have also been offered to ordinary people who want to take up carpentry work as a career. There are various carpenter's workshops scattered all over Lagos state where carpenters from all parts of Nigeria can show their skills and earn decent money. However, most of these traditional craftsmen prefer the modern way of doing things. These days, carpenters from Lagos and other parts of Nigeria can get jobs in big manufacturing units online. If you do not want to work full time then you can choose to find a company that offers contract carpentry work. This type of job allows you to make good money as it is on a per job basis. However, this type of job takes long hours and is very demanding. It is not for all people, as it involves heavy manual labor work.
