As for the rural SW, GEJ will coast to victory cos GEJ has a strong relationship with the Ooni of ife who is the paramount traditional of the SW and when GEJ attended his daughter's wedding he agreed to deploy his machineries 4 him.DON'T VOTE FOR BRUTALITY, DON'T VOTE FOR TYRANNY, DON'T VOTE FOR RETROGRESSION, VOTE FOR TRANSFORMATION. recoome:

People will really be shocked in Nigeria cos GEJ will win by a huge landslide, in the SW, GEJ is very acceptable, ribadu is unknown and uncharismatic, if u study the lagos voting pattern, u'll realize that the PDP still has a huge support base in lagos, why do u think fashola embarked on such a vigorous campaign? Why do u think fashola put up ACN flags all over lagos? I was shocked when moshood salvador(PDP) polled 235,000 votes in lagos west, even in the SW, the PDP lost narrowly. As for SW, GEJ will poll no less than 60% of the total votes cast! In the NW, buhari exposed himself to the PDP, when they say his crowd they must have thought of something like "house to house", i hope u know that in the North the PDP has women & men leaders in every ward, even if they attend his rallies the PDP people can easily go 4rm house to house to convince or confuse them and tell them to 'press 4 umbrella', what is an almajiri's business with 'the pen'-simple things like this sway votes and not large rallies. In kaduna south, Nenadi usman(PDP) polled over 420,000 where CPC could only manage 20,000. PDP defeated ANPP & CPC with wide margins, for those who are saying that the people voted personalities, why did kanti bello loose? Is CPC members not proximal to ANPP members in zamfara, why did ANPP members now succeed in zamfara? Why did a sittin senator in kaduna north lose to a 'non-starter'. BTW, the NE is a PDP,ANPP,ACN affair with CPC coming as a distant fourth. Do u think PDP pays their women leaders for nothing? If u study most of the north, the women came out well, they have been assured 35% slots and i don't think they are ready to give that up just 2 satisfy buhari! In this election. The northern govs would stop at nothing 2 ensure that GEJ wins cos they are all eyeing the presidency, why do u think lamido is becoming so friendly? So that by 2015 he can remind the SS people how he assisted them. I won't be suprised if ribadu & sheks poll more votes than buhari.

The best analysis I have seen in recent times.

GEJ all the way. Buhari will be bygone by Sunday when the results trickle in.

NRC improves rail transport in Maiduguri
TO improve rail transport services for commuters in the Maiduguri metropolis of Borno State, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) at the weekend, launched its mass transit train services covering a minimum of 23 kilometres.

Transport Minister, Yusuf Suleiman, who launched the Maiduguri-Duwari Mass Transit Train Service (MTTs), said the rail service, which had already commenced in Lagos, Kaduna, Jos and Kano, was in fulfillment of the promises of the Federal Government to revamp the country’s rail transport industry and deliver effective and efficient rail services to the people.

He said: “Few months ago, the administration commenced an aggressive rehabilitation of the entire railway facilities in the country which, so far, brought about the rehabilitation of about 1,315 kilometres of the entire railway system from Lagos to Kano.”

The minister said the motive power base of the Nigerian Railway, which was at zero level in the past, had been fortified with 25 brand new locomotive engines ordered from the General Electric South America in Brazil.

He added that the engine was specifically built to conform to the nation’s tropical environment. He explained that some of these newly acquired locomotive engines had been deployed in various locations to commence the mass transit scheme of the NRC.

He said no fewer than 500 coaches and wagons were refurbished and put to use for the Nigerian rail transport system, stressing that the mechanical workshops of NRC all over the country were re-equipped and “practically repositioned to handle periodic and major maintenance works on the rolling stock and the engines of the corporation.”

The minister disclosed that the Enugu-Port Harcourt mass transit rail services would commence as soon as the on-going road construction by the state governments in the area was completed.

Managing Director of the NRC, Adeseyi Sijuwade, in his welcome address said the 23 kilometres Maiduguri-Duwari Mass Transit Train service was one of the major milestones recorded by the corporation, noting that the introduction of the MTTs truly exemplified the strength and readiness of the corporation to perform its statutory duty of moving commuters in the country from one end to another.

The National Assembly elections of Saturday, April 9, 2011 have come and gone but the ripples generated are still obvious to see. There is no doubting the fact that the People's Democratic Party (PDP) was shocked in the Southwest and is very much aware of the potent threat that General Muhammadu Buhari of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) poses to the incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan.

Without being sentimental, it is safe to say that it will be difficult for any candidate to win in the first round. General Muhammadu Buhari is obviously loved by the masses in the north and under free and fair elections devoid of rigging he should have an overwhelming lead in the North. The same holds true for President Goodluck Jonathan in the South-East and South-South. The Southwest is firmly in the grip of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and its presidential candidate Nuhu Ribadu stands to benefit from this.

Now, the key question we all have to answer on Saturday is: will the presidential election be won because of rigging or in-spite of rigging? As Nigerians we have to see this Saturday's election as a mission to save the country from chaos. Hence, not only must we vote for candidates of our choice, we must also ensure that those who want to subvert the process are identified, exposed and punished (according to the law).

In order to achieve this, we should all go out to vote with our multimedia gadgets (phones, smartphones and cameras). Where you find electoral offences being committed, record and post videos on the different social networking platforms ; Facebook, Twitter, Blackberry Messenger, Nairaland as well as local and foreign news channels and websites.

I also suggest that if you have not joined President Jonathan's fanpage on Facebook yet, do so. Then flood his page with videos of any electoral malpractice that may happen in your locality, do the same for the Facebook pages of the other two major candidates. It would be very difficult for him to face the world with thousands of videos showing electoral malpractice on his own Facebook page after next Saturday's presidential elections.

At the end of the day, we are out to achieve 2 things on Saturday:

1. Elect our country's leader for the next four years (God-willing) based on the choice of the majority and

2. Prevent our country from experiencing the dire consequences of failing to achieve 1 above.

God bless Nigeria!

I want to thank the poster for this thread which he introduced without a hint of prejudice for any of the presidential candidates but with a sincere desire to see Nigeria elect a credible leader in a few days.

However, you have certainly underated this issue of rigging in your post. First, Nigeria has never had an incubent who has organized free and fair elections, and with the outcome of some of the NA elections in the north (eg Abuja), Jonathan would not be an exception. Those of us who saw this ahead had adviced him on his FB that he should not contest. He ignored us. Yes GEJ has support all over the nation, but because the PDP is afflicted with a penchant for rigging, this elections are likely to be rigged again, and therefore the result not considered fair.

Lastly, the Buhari option cannot be ignored. Those who say he has support in the north alone fail a great deal in their analyses. In the south west, there is great acceptance of Buhari among muslim folks. who see him as a honest and credible individual. There is also a large hausa community in Lagos, Oyo and Ogun state who would vote for him. Then there is a great deal of Christian people, the group I belong to, who have come to support him because of Tunde Bakare. Many of these people are not CPC party men but BB people to the core. Then there is the work that BB volunteers have done that has won a great deal of people to him. There lies the element of a miracle which I am relying on: with God nothing shall be impossible.

If Buhari wins 90% of the north, 40% or the SW and 10% of the east and SS, then we have victory or at worst a run-off which will lead to a win.

I have not underestimated the issue of rigging, I am looking for ways to surmount, overpower and overcome those who want to rig the election. I think it is about time the opposition stopped complaining about rigging and implement strategies that will make rigging irrelevant in the scheme of things in our politics.

Before some people start to vex over nothing, I am talking of eliminating rigging from all sides and not just one participant in our electoral process.

Remember that the government has in it's control our security forces, intelligence and the treasury and is actually the government that is organizing the election (That is why GEJ will get the credit if the elections are judged to be F&F). If lorry loads of illegally printed ballot papers are crisscrossing the country and government supporters don't want to hear of it, then there is a credibility problem and complicity of government. Are these illegal ballot papers meant for rigging in favor of GEJ or other candidate? We have the right to know. Please GEJ should not waste our time if the whole election is a charade meant to hoodwink the international observers.

You sound so despondent already. Do not underestimate the power of a single individual to create change. The drama we are seeing in the Middle East was inspired by a vegetable seller! If you have internet access and are smart enough to type the above, you can definitely make an effort to help defend the people's mandate next Saturday and beyond.

AN APPEAL TO NIGERIANS GOODLUCK JONATHAN lost support from (king-makers) Ciroma, IBB, Atiku and their fellow corrupt men because he refused to signed an agreement on who becomes Nigeria's President in 2015. GEJ said: "What I'm not comfortable with is the rationale behind 15 of us sitting here and deciding who becomes president in 2015. I will want Nigerians to choose their president in 2015". Even when we were not there GEJ is still fighting for a free and fair process. He disappointed OBJ and BANKOLE because of his transparency and goodwill towards Nigeria. Now, Buhari has been begging the same Ciroma, IBB, Atiku, Tinubu and Mohammed Abacha for help to win. He even promised to make Ribadu president in 2015 if he steps down for him. They are already forcing Bakare to sign his resignation letter. Less than 10 men appointing 2015 president; is this not corruption in the highest order? Nigerians, come out enmass and call your neighbors on Saturday so that we can kill this evil cabal forever. Vote GOODLUCK JONATHAN PLEASE SHARE ON THE MASSAGE!

The PDP rigging machine is still intact. There is no way we could have voted for these bandits the way they treated Nigeria and Nigerians these last 12 years. Nigerians can't be that maschistic!

That is very true; and we have seen it at play in the most rigg-prone states, Bayelsa, Rivers, Benue, Kwara, etc. these are the most bakward states in terms of election process.

I mean it. No sentiments at all.

people like me would prefer PDP to win in a free contest; whether by monetary inducement or fake promises, religious, ethnic, party, sectional or other affiliations or sympathy . not by force of coercion, intimidation, ballot box snatching/stuffing, which are the hall mark of PDP.

Buhari has given us a recipe. Vote, protect, Count, and escort your votes to the collation centres.

However, and sadly too, there  is a limit to how far one can excercise and enforce her/his right.  there is a limit. not at the expense of one's life.

you must be alive to see and probaly enjoy the gains of democracy.

that is the circumstance that PDP, and other parties, exploit to perpetrate their rigging.

THAT IS THE PROBLEM WITH THIS ELECTION. Intimidation, maiming and killing, just to ensure GEJ emerges winner.
