Truthfully speaking from a business perspective creating a business monopoly is the dream of most business people....but it simply a greedy practice that has been proven to stall growth and innovation, it takes us back to the stone era of kings and queens which makes everyone slaves to them and their children, trust me if monopolies where allowed exist in you won't be able to afford a lot of things....the free market is what creats competition and forces people to innovate or die out.... it's the reason why you can browse any website online because nobody has monopoly over the internet.....and also millions of Nigerians can also get employment if other business people are given the same assistance dangote is given.

Business men don't think like that, we have vested interests from political leaders also creating a tight environment and not encouraging same level playing field.

we will get there.

That refinery is more important to Nigeria than 18 communities, even hundred communities or even one state in Nigeria. The economic benefits in terms of Job creation, Oil product prices, etc.
Lubish,Cement is more important its the bedrock of infrastructure. Now since he is the biggest in Africa did that crash the cost of cement even with govt help etc make we wise

Actually we built three refineries between 1960 and 88.

The problem was in the name of subsidy we sold fuel below its production price

Thus no profit to pay for refinery repairs and upgrades and build new ones
Okay, thanks for the enlightenment. But those leaders that took over power and spearhead the collapse of our refineries should be held accountable.

I think the net benefit of this refinery to the Nigerian Economy is exaggerated. But it can be massively beneficial with regards to security of supply of petroleum products.

Mr man, the government issued both licenses for modular and large capacity refineries to interested companies, some modular have been completed, started production and doing well but in small production & capacity. Dangote has invested in the large and almost completed, while others are still coming up. So i don't understand where your excuse of monopolices are coming from.
If you are indeed a serious business man, you will always want to use any of your contacts, influence and affluent to your market advantage, government polies or not. Please read more books on how to be a successful business man

Lol... rEaD mORE bOoKS on h0w tO bE a sUcCeSsfUL bUsInESs mAN....lmao.

The government issued licenses for little modular refineries produce at a really small scale but gave a highly subsidized loan and support to dangote to build and construct a single refinery in one location that would meet the petroleum needs of Nigeria and would still remain for exports... virtually making dangote the largest producer giving him a monopoly over price because he can easily crush the small modular guys because he produces x100000 of what they would produce combined... it's either you're ignorant or you're a mallam but I won't drag this argument any further.

Well if the leaders had allowed petrol to be sold at market prices maybe those refineries would have still been working.

You all this children that comes to spew rubbish

Give evidences base on facts where Dangote was the only company given license for large capacity refinery.

Give evidences base on facts that government gave Dangote (a private company) loan (subsidized or not) to build refinery.

Or you are only speculating and know nothing

Dangote will so deal with Nigerians ehn, una go smell pepper. This refinery is the worst thing that will ever happen to Nigerians, people just don't know it yet.
If you doubt me, how much was sugar and cement before dangote's monopoly, how much are they now?

The reason dangote succeeds is because there is weak enforcement of Anti-Trust and competition law in Nigeria. The day we enforce competition law in Nigeria, Dangote is finished. How would someone buy up cement companies and shut them down because you don't want them to rival your inflated priced cement?
Which school did u attend you don’t know meaning of inflation
Dangote is not the only producer of sugar and cement
You don’t know exchanges rate tax labor wages affect price of commodities
Na dangote rise the price of garri and soft drinks ??

Exactly our point here.
But hypocritical way of life and politics have blinded some people, so they will never talk about it.
And how many refineries has APC built since they came onboard Even the promise of making the old ones working well, how many among the 3 is actually working at 50%

Na fuel you take dey cook

650,000 barrels per day is no child's play. If Dangote manages to run it at 50% capacity, he tried because the way the fuel price is climbing so high without commensurate increase in wages, Nigerians may soon resort to firewood for cooking and solar powered vehicles.

Will you keep quiet, when your dumb daddy does dumb things, you will come here and be shouting, 16yrs of pdp....

E no dey tire u? This government has earned more and stolen more than any government in the history of this so called country except for Abacha, who is still funding us from his grave.

Neway, e kuku dey jolly you as your evil papa dey do. E dey make you cut and when you reach organs, the only thing that comes from your mouth na " pdp looting of 16yrs...".

Keep living in the past while suffering in the present with no sign of hope that Nigeria will be better under this charade of yours that you term government. I don’t know what A.D is doing that is impossible for this government!!! The billions upon billion wasted from 2015 till date is more than what dangote has spent today on his refinery by far. So stop climaxing yourself with baseless rhetorics and grand illusions of a working government.
