According to Jesus Christ, you simply have to accept(trust) and obey His commandments/teachings in order to become one of His followers. It is inside of those who obey His commandments that He will abide in.

You already have the holy spirit resident in you!

Quran verse 50:16 states, “we are closer to man than his jugular vein, we know what man whispers to himself

Or what do you call the power that maintains your earthly functions.

Many are been deceived by religion into continually seek for that which they already possess.

After that, As The Lord told His Disciples, Pray for The Holy Spirit!

Also, as Paul taught, "Feed your spirit and not your flesh (earth)"

Give your life to God........

Surrender yourself to the teachings of Christ Jesus.

Flee from all forms of immorality.

Read, study and meditate on the word of God.

Most importantly kill your will and let's God's will set in.

Receiving the Holyspirit is not of works. You receive the Holyspirit when you believe that Christ died for your sins and resurrected. Salvation is a free gift of God. When you're saved, Holyspirit comes and dwells inside of you and teaches the ways of God. You can't be holy without the Holy-spirit.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

There is nowhere in the bible we are asked to keep commandment before we receive the Holyspirit. However, you're not of God if you do not have the Holyspirit.

The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him. Ephesians 1:14

and he has identified us as his own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the first installment that guarantees everything he has promised us. 1 Corinthians 1:22

In the book of Acts, during the pentecost, the disciples of Jesus were gathered together and the Holyspirit came upon them. It wasn't because they obeyed the commandments. Also, the church of Corinth was full of immoral and greedy believers but still the Holyspirit manifested through them.

Peter preached to Cornelius (a Gentile) and while Peter was preaching, the Holyspirit fell on him and the other gentiles around him. Cornelius wasn't even baptized nor obeyed any commandment and the Holyspirit still fell on him.

So brethen, it is not by doing. It is by believing. Pay close attention, God is working through you through the Holyspirit

May God bless you for this piece my brother. O P please this is all you need to have the gift of the spirit...You just believe in the message you heard about Him CHRIST JESUS. When you do, you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him(Jesus) from death. Then, the Spirit will surely come upon you at this point though undeveloped. Note that: The Spirit is undeveloped at this point; just like a baby with all the body parts intact, but yet to be matured...It now behoves on you, to develop it through the study of God's word and obedience to same. Thereafter, the spirit will guide you and teach you all that you need to know about God. Truely, the HOLY SPIRIT is the best teacher...Salvation is FREE...You can't give or do anything first to be saved other than just to BELIEVE...The Lord bless my brother
