tico1212: When Nigeria and Nigerians were more productive - Producing things consumed in the country with exceptional quality. All those torchlight were being produced then by one company in Agbara. I have forgotten the name as one of our relatives then was working in the company. Chinese toy torch has taken over the market and all those Nigerian companies producing those torch light have all packed up and you keep wondering while dollar is rising. All those hawkers selling torch and radios sells Chinese made materials. The Chinese came with torch light that have radio, antenna and other features but less quality. The Nigerian manufacturers of those classic torchlights shown above were not innovative and under the influence of rising of cost of production could not compete any more. 2 Likes |

Angelfrost: Buhari/idiagbon bandits overthrew shagari government. Shagari and ekwueme were prosecuted but they were not corrupt. Buhari/idiagbon bandits consists of IBB, abacha etc as well. Their bandits members stole ten of billion of dollars. They were thieves. The military removed shagari because the generals wanted to steal money. You should remember that obasanjo is also a general. Despite obasanjo was capable of moving nigeria to modernity, but he was not interested. |

Focusmind: I agreed with you, most torch lights of these days are china made and they don't last compared to both iron and plastic made by tiger. You are good to go everyday so far you remove your battery and keep in the sun for next day use. Now, everyone buying chico that has to be charged before use. Even areas wey no get transformers talk less of light to charge. It saddens the heart to see all those good companies in Nigeria back then packed up. That remains me of Exide batteries manufacturers in Ibadan. |
