Nigerians Enjoying Freedom Of Speech Under Buhari – Presidency Insists by NwaNimo1(m): 2:01pm On Mar 26, 2021 |
The Presidency on Friday insisted that Nigerians currently enjoy freedom of speech under President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu disclosed this while featuring on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily. According to Shehu: “The fastest way to reach President Buhari is to reach the press and reveal the wrongdoing that’s happening. “People should be free to say whatever because this country is under the best democratic government that we have had since the fourth republic.” Shehu also said Buhari was focused on securing Nigerians amid the ongoing mass abduction of students and residents. He noted that the mass abductions of students in the country was embarrassing to the president, Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora. The presidential spokesman also affirmed that Buhari was focused on uniting and preserving the country. He pointed out that the president was very much aware of events across the country. “This President is focused on securing this country, he is focused on the unity of this country, and he will preserve it,” he added. https://dailypost.ng/2021/03/26/nigerians-enjoying-freedom-of-speech-under-buhari-presidency-insists/ |

If you have been reading our dailies or listening to FFK, Aisha Yesufu, Ayo Fayose, etc and following many opposition influencers on social media, you would agree with government to an extent. However, sometimes when your expression of freedom of speech is so sterile or flatly ignored that it makes no desired impact in scheme of things, you feel you don't have freedom of speech. Ironical but true. 1 Like |

So why the social media regulation bills, hate speech bill, RUGA, water resource bill? Why are all the agents of state are always unleashed on any form of opposition who voice out against the state? Why were Obadiah Mailafia, Ghali Umar Naaba, Bishop Apostle Johnson Matthew Kukah threatened when they give their opinions on state of the nation? What about the #EndSARS oppression? Why is it that the Miyetti Allah, Arewa youth, Sheikh Ahmed Gumi, MURIC etc can make reckless vertuperations yet the DSS keep quiet? |
