Low Turn Out Mars Presidential Poll in Oyo

In some of the results released at polling centres in Ibadan, President Goodluck Jonathan did won.

At ward 9, unit 10, Mokola area of Ibadan PDP scored 219, ACN 65,CPC 33.

Meanwhile, low turn-out of voters was recorded in virtually all polling centres in Oyo State during the presidential election.

Except in Sabo area of Ibadan city where residents who are predominantly Hausa trooped out in large number to vote their choice candidate as early as 8am, in many places visited in the city, voters who came to vote were few in number when compared with those who turned up for last Saturday’s election.

The election was very peaceful except in Monatan where some thugs allegedly prevented people from voting and were busy thumbprinting the papers for the candidate of their choice. It was not clear which of the candidates they were supporting.

At Moniya, Ward 05,Unit 08, Akinyele Local Government, out of 1,468 registered voters, only 260 voters were accredited as at 10am even though the INEC officials started the exercise some minutes before 8am.

Also at Ward 01 Unit 03, in Lagelu Local Government, most of the registered voters who are 1,511, were not around for accreditation. The same discouraging turn-out was noticed at Olorunda, Ward 01, unit 08, Ebenezer Primary School, Akingbile, Ward 05, unit 01 and Ward 09, unit 05 in Egbeda Local Government.

One of officials of INEC who spoke to Vanguard said the turn-out of voters was very low in comparison with what happened during the National Assembly election.

Corroborating the comments of the INEC official, the National Coordinator, Coalition of Democrats for Election Reform(CODER), Chief Ayo Opadokun said the poor turn-out could be attributed to the disconnect between the Nigerian government and the masses adding that many voters had been scared by the earlier announcement that the Federal Government had deployed troops to the South West zone to supervise the election.

This isnt good enough

Well, they didnt show up so PDP will just thumbprint their voter's card as expected and add it to their voter's tally!
