Before getting admission, you should have ascertain the kind of course study needed in oil company, but since you have make a choice to study geography I advice you to have faith in God and believe that when you graduate you will find a job that suite your course in oil company.

Anybody can work in an oil company. You can consider a masters in GIS or surveying technologies to enhance your chances. Since you have a 2:1, you can always enrol for the various aptitude tests that Shell, Mobil, Chevron, Total, NNPC, NLNG, and the rest of them conduct every year or so. Just keep an eye out for those vacancies.

You can also start looking for a job with some of the smaller indigenous oil firms. Or even consider working in surveying, geodesy, or some of the survey technologies. You have to read up on these things, and find out what's going on in the marketplace.
