South Africa Confirms Nigeria Has Bought Its Unused Astrazeneca Vaccines by TMKsouth: 9:13am On Apr 02, 2021 |
South Africa's Health Minister Zweli Mkhize has given an update on the sale of the country's AstraZeneca vaccines, confirming that 17 African Union (AU) member countries will benefit, however, he did not disclose how much the country has sold them for. In a statement released on Friday morning, the minister said it was a difficult decision for South Africa to halt the rollout of the one million AstraZeneca vaccines after a small local study revealed they were not effective against the 501y.v2 variant. However, Mkhize said it’s gratifying to know that countries like Zimbabwe, South Sudan, Uganda and Nigeria would benefit from our stockpile. He said government was pleased to see a successful conclusion of the matter which he calls "a win-win". Without divulging how much the jabs were sold for, Mkhize said South Africa would not incur fruitless or wasteful expenditure. And as citizens wonder when they would have the opportunity to get vaccinated, he said many can start queuing up later on this year. “The government remains committed to the protection of our people, and this year millions of South Africans will be counted amongst the vaccinated in the world.” 1 Like

It's time Nigerian universities scrap off pharmacy. What do they even do in Nigeria? Nigeria don't have pharmaceutical companies. Emzoor started dying after Dora left office. Her sustainance is other west African countries. We will rather import than manufacture. It's not only drugs. What can we proudly say we manufacture in Nigeria? This country will not get better, let's tell ourselves the truth. |

I think the major issue with Nigeria is that Nigerians do not Read South Africa bought the vaccine.... And later discovered that the variant in South Africa was immuned to the vaccine South African trial of the Oxford-AstraZeneca shot https://www.nytimes.com/2021/02/08/world/africa/south-africa-Covid-variant-vaccine.html So they had to sell to those who it works for, So the Au bought it on behalf of the 4 countries South Africa is now waiting for 41Million of the johnson and Johnson vaccine If we have so much idiot as youth who do not Read or seek to know, What kind of leaders will they make? And you wonder how and why Nigeria is like this? 1 Like |

TMKsouth: The problem with Nigeria is her choice of electing leaders. Check the entire appointments by Buhari and tell which is worth it. CCT has shown his own brain capacity. We will remain undeveloped until we change our choice of electing leaders. |
