Nigerians are known to be one of the smartest people on Earth,However,to the best of my knowledge,we have never produced a Chess Grandmaster at home or abroad. Not only so,the entire West Africa with a population of approximately 300 million does not have one. Why is this so? This calls for sober reflections Cc Lala, seun |

Tarokboy:The GM title requires "GM norms". Basically what this means is that you need to beat GMs to become a GM. The fact that there is no GM in West Africa means that anyone aspiring for the title would have to travel to Europe or some other place out of Africa. This is just one reason. Lack of interest is also another one. 1 Like |
