I prefer being fulfilled. Fulfillment is when I like, love, and respect myself without needing any external validation. When you're fulfilled, respect, likes, and love will come naturally to you but you won't need it. So, if they withdraw it, you won't know it.

l partly disagree with you. There is respect that you give to people who are higher than you in social strata or a field regardless of your hatred for them.

I think respect is earned why being liked not to that extent. A junior officer may respect and not like a senior colleague. Respect above being liked.

Respect 100%. A lady told me how she disliked me because of my "talk and do" behaviour, but presently she likes me more for standing for what I believed in. Whether people gonna like me or hate me that I don't care. She respects me for that.

Being liked is just fancy, and it makes you compromise your stance.

Wanting to be liked makes you want to please people, but when you're more focused on being respectable, you'll likely always do the right thing regardless of whose horse is gored.
