Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC) has described Yinka Odumakin, the late spokesman of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere as a courageous and principled man who was never afraid to express his views on any issue during his lifetime.

The late Odumakin, 56, died on Friday April 2 after battling with respiratory problems occasioned by COVID-19 complications.
Speaking with Daily Independent, Sagay said Odumakin will be remembered as a man full of ideas and strong views who enlightened Nigerians on issues and allow them to debate it in order to arrive at a consensus.

“He (Odumakin) was a principled man who was totally courageous about his views without fear of consequences. One may not agree with him on some of his views but one advantage that he has provided is that he has raised issues and enabled the enlightened public to really lash on those issues, discuss them and try to resolve them”.

“He is to be admired for being a man of ideas and a man of very strong views, which themselves unlocked other people, even those who are against him and allow issues to be robustly debated to the advantage of the public, who will now have all the possible views on any issue and then decide who to follow”.

“I think he is to be praised for that. I like people who have views, ideas and who can present them to the public and allow such ideas to be debated and enlighten the public. In some cases, allow a consensus which will move the nation forward”.

“ So, one may not agree with him on many things. I think he tended to be too harsh against the people he did not like. He could have said things he was saying without being so full of condemnation of people”.
“But I think he was a man of ideas and he has the capacity to arouse public on important issues. I think we should give him credit for that and I pray that may his soul rest in peace” Sagay said.

Did you publicly let him know about this while he was alive, or u just want to follow the trend of saying something nice since he is no more? People who don't let others know their worth and relevance while they are alive, only to sing praise and worship songs in their names when they are no more are modern day Pharisees.

Yinka Odumakin, National Publicity of Afenifere has commenced legal action against Professor Itse Sagay SAN, Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC) for allegedly publishing a libelous story against him.

Odumakin, through his lawyer, H.B. Williams of Chapitre LLP is also demanding N5billion in damages from Sagay for the alleged injury caused him by the publication titled ‘Odumakin, Jackal At Large’ published in The Nation Newspaper of February 11 2019.

In the article, Sagay had alleged that Odumakin who betrayed President Muhammadu Buhari after the 2011 presidential election which was won by former President Goodluck Jonathan received money from Jonathan’s campaign team to set up “a fake Radio Station in Ibadan in 2015.”
