The Sea port located on a 2,000 hectares of land near the Imo River, Obeaku in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State, has about 23 nautical miles to the Atlantic Ocean. Sounds like a river port. Edo said their port was seaport but they eventually corrected themselves. “There will also be an establishment of a Mega City Project comprising of 10,000 housing units in its first phase, refineries, free trade zone, industrial layout, gas plant for steady power supply, shopping malls, hospital and police station all of which the team of Marine Engineers alongside other experts are working out”, he added. Nice .

My only happiness is that it's an igbo funded project ...not a foreign investor that would invest $2 billion and take out 20 billion from the economy Next is to cut it out from the national grid and let it have it's own power source 13 Likes |

Why is this news so painful to certain people. Obuaku will be very busy when completed. My advice will be for the developers not only to concentrate on servicing Abia state needs. They should aim to serve the whole Igbo hinterland as that could easily make Obuaku the busiest seaport in West Africa. Imagine a seaport that serves ABA, Onitsha and Nnewi. That will drastically reduce the unbearable congestion that Lagos ports suffer, as well as bring needed business and hundreds of thousands of employment opportunities to Igboland. That will also greatly benefit the seaports in Rivers Akwaibom and Cross River states as the shipping nerve Centra of Nigeria could be moved eastwards 8 Likes 1 Share |
